You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~
It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known. ~A Tale of Two Cities ~

I absolutely adore this song.
I don't know why. I mean, there are a thousand songs I could have responded with, but that's the first one that popped into my mind. I guess it's because I would have so much fun with that song.
Others? Eh... Anything from Assassins. Because I would kill to play Guiteau. (Or to be the ambassador to France.)
"If I didn't believe in you" from L5Y or almost anything from that.
There are a ton more but it is really early...
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife

Well, apart from being professionl/NY audition suicide to bend the gender, I think I would go for Memory (double sucide!!! lol), How Could I Know from ( almost double suicide!!! ) and Back to Before (from Ragtime).

Best, it looks JUST LIKE ia girl I know--i didn't think you were she, but...
and phillyactor, i did get a callback and a job from singing I Caint Say No--not exactly suicide for me, but i get your point. Song choices at auditions are hit or miss anyway, unless you KNOW that the casting person hates Sondheim (or whoever), how would you know what NOT to sing?
"Rose's Turn" from GYPSY "The Ladies Who Lunch" from COMPANY "I'm the Greatest Star" from FUNNY GIRL "A Call from the Vatican" from NINE "Last Midnight" from INTO THE WOODS
...There's a bunch more.
"I love talking about nothing. It is the only thing I know anything about." - Oscar Wilde
lildogs, I'll give you a little metaphor (not the one from The Fantasticks mind you.) I like to play cards, esp blackjak. It's foolish to hit on a 17, but occassionally people do it. Will they get 3 or 4, rarely, but if you want to play blackjack and win in the long term, you DONT do it. If you call them on it, they will proudly proclaim they won the hand. But watch what happens the 50 other times they try it! Its like the guy that jumps out of a plane and his parachute and backup get tangled , sometimes, on a rare occassion, he manages to survive, but usually he doesnt. So, I wouldnt hit on a 17 and I'd doublecheck check my parachute. When auditioning, why stack the odds against yourself, in order to maybe, on a small chance, be a an exception to a rule?
