Hmmm, I haven't seen RENT as a play, but I've seen The Producers and both movies, and I like RENT as a movie musical better than The Producers. That may be because I've never seen the play though, but TP is soo much funnier on stage, something about it on the screen isn't a good.
~Now I'm standing centre stage, I'm at home at last!~
The Producers and Rent are both two completely different musicals. But, I'll have to say that I enjoyed the Producers more than Rent. Updated On: 12/28/05 at 05:42 PM
Why the competition? Why not both? They are both very different. Apples to oranges. Sometimes I feel like an apple, sometimes I just want an orange. Both are tasty enjoyable.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I'm obviously a huge RENT fan, but I'm being to be objective. . RENT was better. The Producers was good, but nothing spectacular. It was a little too...I'm not sure of the word. I really didn't like them looking into the camera. It was enjoyable, but overall, RENT was better.
You must think I'm still sixteen.
I dropped out of high school for a reason.
And I don't care if you're pretty. I'm not admitting you are right.
My soul is not a stage.
I won't pretend I'm anything I'm not
Producers, but I don't know why you need to choose. Some people may like both and in an era that struggles to bring back the movie musical concept, I would hope we'd WANT both.
This just proves my point even better. You obviously haven't seen many movies. I just can't stand the ignorance. No wonder Adam Pascal dosen't want to read the messages of vicious obcessed kids.
