Do you think she will give mention to Jennifer Holliday, much the way Bebe Neuwirth mentioned Chita Rivera in her Tony acceptance speech for CHICAGO?
Uh, no.
Why should she? JHud never saw Holliday perform except for 1 clip on YouTube, and Holliday did NOTHING to help out Hudson.
^exactly
it would be nice and all if she did...but I almost hope she doesn't.
I hope she tells Simon Cowell to jump up her ass.
She should raise the trophy over her head and scream
YEAH B*TCHES!!
I would still love her.
Why? Catherine Zeta-Jones didn't give any thanks to Chita or Bebe when she won the Oscar. Why should Hudson??
"And I would like to say that in no way was Simon Cowell responsible for any of my success. Thank you again for this award!”
(Music Swells as Ms. Hudson is escorted off of the stage by an Amazon woman)
I am sooooooooo with blueflame. I hope that he is there just to see the look on his face!
I think it would be nice but If I won a OScar I would probably wet myself.

Simon Cowell didn't vote her off American Idol. The audience did.
Simon also told Taylor Hicks he had no chance of winning.
Simon liked Christina Christian best the first year.
Obviously, millions of voters thought that someone other than Jennifer Hudson deserved to win.
and, Simon already publicly stated he is glad for all her success on Oprah.

Well, since Ms. Holliday has been sort of a sour puss about the film lately, I thought that a mention from Ms. Hudson in her acceptance speech might be just the thing to cheer her up and could give her some validation as the creator of Effie White.
I think Hudson has a bit more class than to rub her success in anyone's face.

She was more influenced by Holliday than a Youtube segment. She has been saying she first heard the big song being lip-synched by Will Smith on Fresh Prince. That being said, she probably has stronger influences on her sound than Holliday (even if they are eerily similar). If she gets nominated and wins, I bet her speech will be very humble, thanking God, the creative team and cast and just being very thankful for the opportunity. I think its a shame she probably won't get to sing at the Oscars. "Listen" will probably get nominated for Best Song and Beyonce will get to sing. I don't have high hopes for "Love You I Do" getting a nod.
Why would she thank Holliday? All Jennifer Holliday has done is complained that Hudson got Effie. Ms. Holliday, why do you think you would get the part? You are no longer in your twenties. Playing a fiesty, young girl is something you would be unqualified to do right now. I would be surprised is she thanked Holliday, perhaps even a little disapointed. The woman doesn't deserve to be thanked.
I think WHEN she wins, she'll be pretty stunned.
Who knows what she'll say?
But I do predict you will see the entire Academy and audience members rise to their feet and give her a standing ovation at the televised ceremony.
That ought to put her into shock... so I'm not even anticipating anything in English or even intelligible coming out of her mouth (or thoughts) after that. I'm sure she'll be just fine... but coherent and well-spoken? Forget it. And it doesn't matter in the least.
Hudson should just send some flowers to Holliday.
That would be enough.

I think she should go the diva route like Halle Berry:
I've been waiting 74 years for this award. Don't start playing the music, because it took me years to get up here and I'm going to say what I have to say.
Simon Cowell basically told her that she would fade into obscurity, never to be heard from again. A "no one cares about the losers" comment.
And may I add that Hudson might not win. Cate Blanchet (sp?) and Catherine O'Hara both gave pretty incredible performances that will hopefully get nominated.
Now Martin Scorsese's Oscar Speech (crosses fingers)- That's something I want to hear

Nah, Holliday has been very un-classy throughout this whole thing. I don't think she deserves a thank you from Jennifer, especially with all the negative press she has a been creating for her and the movie.
It's really surprising how sour grapes the whole original cast is being about this movie. I read the JET magazine article about how they are all basically upset with how the movie is going. Did they ALL want to be cast in their original parts or something? They did the play 25 years ago, and they're acting like anything Dreamgirls related somehow has to include them or it's a big slap in the face. Furtehrmore, I haven't seen/read one TV special, interview, or review regarding the movie that hasn't mentioned the original play and how much of a hit it was in some manner. I just don't understand what it is they feel they should be getting that they're not.
I don't think it is a given she will win, either. I think she deserves it, but there are always the shockers in this category. Remember when Lauren Bacall was supposed to win for MIRROR HAS TWO FACES? Win or lose, I am sure she will be nothing but humble, grateful and overwhelmed.
No one else is in the same stratosphere as Hudson this year. There are other very good, outstanding supporting female performances, absolutely...
...and then there's Hudson... sitting at a level of achievement all her own. She's Haley's Comet. This comes along every 75 years, and it's not just another "good job" to be judged next to other "good jobs."
As far as fading into obscurity, she might just do that. But now is the time to recognize and celebrate her incredible, jaw-dropping work as Effie. I do (easily) predict that this is the high-point (as well as the start) of her film career. Roles just aren't written like this very often, for ANYONE, let alone for black actresses of any age or type.
This is "it." I hope she will continue to work (if she wants to) as an actress... but there is no way in hell she'll follow this with another "Effie"-sized performance. They aren't out there to play.
My hope is that she concentrates on her recording career for awhile, and if she's smart, she will study acting, and learn her craft... God knows she already has the raw talent (more so than many brilliant actors that have come before her), but she doesn't know how to do it yet on her own. She has many options and choices in front of her now, and I hope she's smart about it. But don't look for Effie 2 anytime soon. This is a "once in a lifetime" role, and a "once in a lifetime" performance... and I'm pretty sure she knows it.
But for now... this is HER YEAR. T'ain't no doubt about it.
I agree with you best, but I still would not be surprised if she doesn't win.
Also, when Oprah makes the COLOR PURPLE MUSICAL movie, do you think she will call Felicia or Jennifer?
