While other shows such as Grease, Man Of La Mancha & My Fair Lady have regular revivals , some shows have never been revived

How about a revival of Funny Girl?

Or, a revival of "Mame?" It's such a shame that the Kennedy Center revivial of "Mame" last year, never made it to Broadway.

There is no single, age appropriate, living performer who could make Funny Girl work. The role belongs to Streisand.

Revive A Little Night Music and Bye Bye Birdie please.

Superman would work. Saw the original & no idea why it did not catch on. Got fairly respectable reviews but did not catch on. It was a lot of fun

Birdie was DOA when it premiered so that is a dead issue

Annie was very good. It was good enough to make it to Broadway but they decided to open it off Broadway. Better than another Annie revival

"Bye Bye Birdie" and "Secret Garden" would both be absolute joys to see revived (the former was brought on tour a year or two ago, but I never got to see it, while the latter has been done in concert version, but I'd love to see a full-scale show in a Broadway house).

Any and all Herman shows. re: Shows That Inexplicably Never Been Revived

I second Superman, Milk and Honey, Mame and A Little Night Music.

And add Applause, Smile, and Carrie

I agree with thevolleyballer:

Secret Garden should be revived.

Actually, Julian, Hello Dolly was revived more than twice. Once with an all black cast starring Pearl Bailey, and at least once with Miss Carol reprising her role.

I know, but I'm hoping/looking foward to a future revival sans CC. Just to see it done with a new actress in the modern era. And I just didn't feel like typing the whole thing out, so I just put it all under the Herman umbrella.

But truth be told, I can never get enough Herman re: Shows That Inexplicably Never Been Revived.

It has been 34 years and I'm shocked that there has been NO Night Music revival.

The all-black Pearl Bailey edition of the show wasn't a revival -- it was during the original run of the show. Following the Bailey edition, Merrick then went back to the traditionally cast version of the show and several other (white) Dollys (including Phyllis Diller and Ethel Merman) played the lead. Since the original run, the show has had three separate revivals/limited return engagements, all starring Carol Channing -- the last one closing in 1996.

I was not saying it was a revival just that I had seen her in it

Funny Girl, definitely. I'd love to see Julia Murney play Fanny.
