Let's be honest: Heroes in musicals are only as good as their villians. Who are your favorite musical villians? Some of mine are:

Miss Hannigan from ANNIE
The Von Tussels from HAIRSPRAY
Judge Turpin from SWEENEY TODD

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

I really love Inspector Javert of Les Miz, although he's not really a bad guy depending on how you look at it.

I thought one of the main points of Les Miz was that Javert was not really a bad guy, and the Thenadiers were the true villains of the story. Or at least that's what I always believed.

Is it fair to say that the adults in Spring Awakening were pretty much the "villians" to counterpoint the needs of the kids?

Herr Kenuckenbrook or whatever, that part had me absolutely rolling each time those funny scholar hats went on. The teachers were absolutely dastard, but oh so comical.

She was the only one out when I went, but her understudy was delightfully monotone and played it straight, I was onstage and couldn't stop grinning as she'd advance closer until she robotically turned. Quite an enjoyable villianess I'd say!

I don't really think of her as a villain, but The Witch in ITW is one of my favorite Broadway characters ever.

Yea, the Witch is NOT the villian in that show, at all, and calling her such, proves her right "I'm not good, I'm not bad, I'm just right/I'm the witch/You're the world"...but that's been discussed in depth somewhere

I'm really kind of partial to Frump in H2$.

GASTON, when played well.
The trick is to see why the Town loves him at first and then when the tide turns he goes off the deep end.
Literally.
