I thought it was TACKY that the producers used music from "Sunset Boulevard" to introduce.. the artist known as Cruella De Ville.... and with Patti LuPone in the audience (I assume). And to top it off.... Cruella croaks a bit of "Some Enchanted Evening". That immediately caused dogs all over the country to howl in distress. from RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

HAHAHA! This is sooo funny; the minute they said Glenn Close was in the ceremony at the very beginning, I thought, "Ooohhh, there's gonna be such a diva fight!!!"
I seriously doubt that. It wasn't Glenn Close's decision to not let Patti do "Sunset" on Broadway. That was ALW's. Patti is smart enough, and mature enough to know that.
No, Laura's name was the last one she kinda blurted out there, before she like paused for Boyd.

I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.

Haha! For a second I thought Glenn was presenting Best Lead Actress in a Musical and I was like "Who let THAT happen. Patti will knock her out with the Tony"
Hate to break it to all of you - I doubt that Patti and Glenn have a "feud" over Sunset Boulevard. If they do, 13 years after Sunset won 7 Tony Awards, that would be one example of Pathetic...
I agree with chernjam, anyone who seriously thinks theres an issue with Glenn appearing and the orchestra playing the music from the only musical she's ever been in has the problems. It was one of the less tacky things of the wonderful evening.
She was in the South Pacific TV movie. They could have just played something from that. Or "Lovely". They seem to play that whenever they feel like it.
Sorry, my hyperbole went too far. I just thought most would figure that she'd be associated with the show which got her a Best Actress in a Musical trophy.
Best moment of the night: Patti's reaction to the wonky sound during "Seasons of Love." They cut away to her during the soloist and her reaction is absolutely priceless.
