what is everyones favorite opening number from a musical mine would have to be the Prologue from Into The Woods and good morning baltimore. Updated On: 6/21/08 at 03:01 PM
either Epiphany from Bare or Untitled Opening Number from Title of Show edit: adding The Ballad of Sweeney Todd to my list
"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim
I like Skid Row/Downtown a lot. The Ballad of Sweeney Todd is great. Omigod You Guys is great too. Might get hate for this but No One Mourns the Wicked. Also, O What A Beautiful Morning is a fantasatic song.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

"And when Idina Menzel is singing, I'm always slightly worried that her teeth are going to jump out of her mouth and chase me." - Schmerg_the_Impaler
Storybook - Scarlet Pimpernel (SP2-SP4) (Just a good song!) I Guess It Was 5 A.M./Let's Have Lunch (Sunset Blvd.) Prolouge/Auction/Overture - Phantom of the Opera
"Willkommen" - Cabaret "All That Jazz" - Chicago "The Circle of Life" - The Lion King "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'!" - Oklahoma! "Overture" - The Phantom of the Opera
The opening of SITPWG is my all time favorite! Especially in the revival where George begins to sketch the world around him. The projections are beautiful!
