I know that Laura Benanti used to come out the stage door regularly when Gypsy started its run, but the only report I've seen of her coming out the stage door in the past month was the Tuesday after the Tonys (the first show after she got the award). Does anyone know of any other times she has come out and signed since the Tony awards?
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
Yesterday when I was waiting in the Xanadu rush line at around 5:30, Laura and her husband walked down the sidewalk and then crossed the street to go to Broadway Barks, so I'm assuming she would have come out of the stage door and signed for fans waiting after the matinee.
The title of this thread made me laugh at the thought that she has NOT left the theater since winning a Tony. She is SO infatuated with the idea of her being this Broadway mega star that she has yet to come out into the real world! She sleeps in the Act 1 pajamas, chills in her dressing room in her shabby homemade outfits, and attends parties via webcam dressed in her pretty Eden gown.
Haha, stars do not always come out at certain shows! I, for example, have been at the Legally Blonde stagedoor seven times and have only met Orfeh AND Christian Borle once!
Laura was advised by her doctor not to do the stage door when she got walking pneumonia. Now that the weather is better, it may happen with more frequency.
I'm sure she does come out, but I personally have bad Laura luck. First I missed her at the Wedding Singer stagedoor, and then when I went to see Gypsy she didn't come out either
Not that I'm at ALL insinuating anything bad about her- she seems like a sweetheart- it's just it made me sad because I want to meet her!! lol
Ah well, perhaps next time. I DO intend on seeing Gypsy again (and again, and again)... so.. :P
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
Oh best12bars. I had the same idea. But like a good little writer, I went through dozens of drafts of the joke until I got what I thought was a keeper. And here you beat me to it and nailed it.
Ps my version finally came down to:
"Apparently, if she comes out and sees her shadow, Passing Strange gets two more months on Broadway."
Patti did...after the announcement of no pictures but she'll sign anything.:)
Not quite anything. She would not sign a plain notebook someone had open to a blank page. But it did seem like if it was a playbill, window card or CD of something she was involved with she was fine with it.
