John McGlinn's complete recording of Jerome Kern's and Oscar Hammerstein's masterpiece SHOWBOAT. It is thrilling theatre.
For dessert, I would add my guilty pleasure I HAD A BALL, brassy and pure Broadway pizzaz. Irresistible to me.

Gosh there are so many.
I can't decide between, A Light in the Piazza, The Sound of Music, or Wicked. What if I found a CD big enough to have those 3 recordings on one CD would that count? It's only one CD!!!!!

oh gosh i dont know... maybe the actor's fund of america production of hair (thats not really a cast recording though)

Sweeny Todd and Les Mis would drive me crazy, so that's definitely out.
I know I'll be called crazy for this, but A.R. Rahman is brilliant and I'm not even Indian: Lord of the Rings (London Cast Recording).
Otherwise, Rent, for pure variety.
