I don't know about "far left," but the Democrats definitely should pick a candidate who provides a clear alternative to the new authoritarianism of Trump and the Republican Party. I'm not sure such a candidate could be described as moderate.

I am a fan of Eric Swalwell

I have more than a sneaking suspicion that Terry McAuliffe will run. He's starting to put distance between himself and the Clintons. If he should seal the party nomination, the challenge for him will be to pick a running mate who brings something to the table and who doesn't piss off the Bernie wing of the party. McAullife is about as establishment as they come but I'd hold my nose and vote for him in a general election.
That aside, spotlight on Minnesota which is positioning itself to be the key party player in 2024. The Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party is onto something. The state's attorney general Lori Swanson has announced her candidacy for governor and named retiring US Rep Rick Nolan as her running mate. See It’s official: The Swanson/Nolan ticket is running for governor But the news of the day is that US Rep Keith Ellison is leaving the House to run for attorney general in Minnesota vice Swanson. See Ellison launches bid for Minnesota attorney general
All this bodes well for the Dems in 2024 if civil war doesn't break out before then. By that time, Gavin Newsom will be primed to run for potus and a hopefully a record number of women on the Dem side will have gubernatorial experience. IMHO the party desperately needs to step out of Bill Clinton's shadow.
Agreed, South Florida. IMO, they're the biggest hinderance to the Democrats still.
Two take aways from last night's primaries.
1. Women win big.
2. Bernie-crats continue to flounder at the polls.

I can't imagine why Bernie at his age would be going around the country like he does. I imagine he's a lock.
He didn’t win last time and no one he is backing is winning this time.
So probably not.

He's not a Democrat. He's never been a Democrat. He has never helped other Democrats (except when it helped him). Why in the world would he be a lock for the Democratic nomination?

Bernie will never be POTUS! I recognize the appeal - I DO NOT LIKE HIM!
I only believe he's a lock to run, either him or Warren one will run.

Calm down.
Donald Trump will run and he will win . #YankeesRStoopid
Kanye and the rock
I wonder if the Clinton's realize how much they damage the cause now.
I believe there will be a Dark Horse who will arise after this years election. Like Trump did. Too early to speculate1

I would love if Hillary got the satisfaction of saying "you're fired!" to the monster-in-chief, but it's not gonna happen.

Very likely. At this point - I have no clue. Not interested in Biden (love him of course). Country still too racist for the Casto brothers. Same with Kamala Harris.

I was kidding before, now, I'm not.
U Yankees r SO screwed!

After yesterday's election results and Justice Kennedy's announcement earlier today, Terry McAuliffe and Eric Holder now make up my Dream Team. Many indies like me abhor Trump and the doublespeak of his privy council. But, we have even less love for Venezuelan-style socialism. Of course the real effects of Trump's fiscal handiwork will be known long after he's out of office.
U.S. cruises toward record-breaking debt on Trump's watch
I don't give a flying F who is on the ballot in 2020. It could be a piece of gorilla sh*t and I'd vote for it.
Everyone should take this approach in both 2018 and 2020, but the purity-testing left will find a way to discredit anyone they slightly disagree with, so we'll be stuck with at least one generation lost to Trump's Supreme Court.
