Shrek3, I completely agree with you about this madness but I think it is useless to try to discuss with people like FindingNamo who are too brainwashed and damaged to have clear views. I have tried it, but race is all they see and will ever see.
FindinNamo is under the impression that everyone is just as obessed with race as he is. While the truth is, most people couldn't care less if a certain singer, actor, talkshow host or president is black, white or purple.
Because of this obsession, he supports outrageous ideas specially for black people, such as a mandatory black person award (forced diversity in race) at the oscars, or black reel awards, or a mandatory percentage of black in anything, even though almost 90% of the population is not black but other races.
But the biggest problem of all is that he pulls race into every absurd situation he can think of. Situations that have nothing to do with race. Like the Oscars, where many races are nominated all the time. With this behaviour he teaches our children that black is not normal, not as good as others, needs to be treated differently, and he increases the gap enormously, maintains that gap and makes sure that gap is brought into anything that has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately he doesn't realize this because he can't let go of the illusion that everyone is as obsessed with race as he is.
Random example: I have read 2000 comments about Grease live on the internet. Only 1 person asked why they made the character of Marty black. That is 1 in 2000.
Almost half of every comments about Danny, were stating that he was too old for the role. Just to show you what people actually care about.
When I speak for myself, black Marty? I love it. Black popsingers? I love it. Black president? I love it. All black cast in a film? I love it. The fact is, I just don't care as long as it's good.
As long as you don't think the same way about everything that happens to be all white (which can happen because of tons of reasons), YOU are the problem. This way you create low self-esteem in your children. Of course Findingnamo is too brainwashed to understand this, thinks he is noble and doesn't see what he is actually doing, but it's just a tip. Do what you want with it.

Color-Blindness Is Counterproductive
Many sociologists argue that ideologies claiming not to see race risk ignoring discrimination.
"How many times have you heard someone say that they “don’t see color,” “are colorblind,” or “don’t have a racist bone in their body?” Maybe you’ve even said this yourself. After all, the dominant language around racial issues today is typically one of colorblindness, as it’s often meant to convey distaste for racial practices and attitudes common in an earlier era.
Many sociologists, though, are extremely critical of colorblindness as an ideology. They argue that as the mechanisms that reproduce racial inequality have become more covert and obscure than they were during the era of open, legal segregation, the language of explicit racism has given way to a discourse of colorblindness. But they fear that the refusal to take public note of race actually allows people to ignore manifestations of persistent discrimination.
For the first half of the 20th century, it was perfectly legal to deny blacks (and other racial minorities) access to housing, jobs, voting, and other rights based explicitly on race. Civil-rights reforms rendered these practices illegal. Laws now bar practices that previously maintained racial inequality, like redlining, segregation, or openly refusing to rent or sell real estate to black Americans. Yet discrimination still persists, operating through a combination of social, economic, and institutional practices."

The only point I was getting at is the absurdness on how this started. Boycott Hollywood or the Oscars for it's "racism" if that's what you believe is happening, but don't do it just cause your dumb husband or wife got "snubbed" out of a nomination they so egotistically thought was owed to them.
Is it a shame that no black actors were nominated this year? eh. I'm not that upset by it. There were many great performances this year. Do I think some black actors deserved to get in over some other white actors? Sure. I thought Samuel L Jackson's performance in The Hateful Eight warranted a nomination. But it's incredibly competitive and only 5 spots are available.
If there had been no black actors nominated for the last 3 years then okay then people would have a point, but I really don't see what the uproar is about.
And the #oscarssowhite hashtag isn't even accurate. 2 incredibly talented Mexican men have been dominating the best director categories for a few years now.
meh.

Oh yes, there's always somebody who makes it their job to say "this isn't pure enough" to act on. If only the person weren't INVESTED in some way, then, THEN I could agree wholeheartedly with the anger and I DO agree but I'm just going to criticize the motive of the critic.
I guess you've never heard of people taking all they can stand until they can't stand anymore? Why, there's a whole phrase that has been used forever to describe it involving a straw and a camel's back.

They wouldn't SEE the purple! Isn't that something? They are so pure of heart and intent that their senses have shut down!
I never saw a purple person...
Well they obviously exist because there is a whole song about a monster who eats them.
Or is the monster purple? I've never really figured that out.

I agree, colorblindness is dangerous. We should notice color at any time. Just like we should notice any other aspect of someone's exterior, especially in casting. Short is not tall and black is not white and ugly is not beautiful and one thing is not per definition better than the other", but that's not the point.

I know, this problem is mainly coming from black people. They demand exclusive rules for themselves.
It's a bit like the discussion we had in another tread, the role of Piangi in Phantom is played by almost every ethnicity there is. Every actor has had the same make-up and accent. But when a black actor plays the role, there has to be a new-exclusive rule. Crazyness.
And then I won't even start about the pathetic black reel awards. No other race has ever attempted something as silly as that. Life lesson 1: How do you create a gap in race difference that is as big as possible? Like that.

Oh yes, they would see it. And fully embrace it, if they wouldn't act like they have a stick up their ass and demand exclusive rules for everything they do.
And not blame everything in life on the fact they are purple. Some things in life have to do with one of the millions of other factors (personality, talent, to name a few).

Killgrave from Jessica Jones is purple in the comic books. Is that what he means? That you won't see purple because of his mind control powers?

Wow dave 19. Generalization much? No, black people don't demand exclusive rules for themselves. What a terrible thing to say. This isn't about black people demanding special rights, this is about Jada Smith being a sore loser.
.
Funny how Dave19 said two pages back was a good place to end, but then went on to make three of his most outrageously racist posts in quick succession.

Yes, Jada Smith is a loser. And a racist.
And no, I'm not Shrek3, although he has great points. What kind of narrow minded world do you live in if you are surprised by healthy views? Every person with sense knows that pulling the race card in the Oscars is racist.
