Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway are on today's Oprah. I'm listening to it on my Walkman at work.
Watching and Tivo-ing it.
What time does her show re-air and what station?
Thanks.
Oprah is a syndicated show, Dottie, so it's different in every market.
Mostly it's carried on ABC affiliates, but, you have to check your local market listings.
Oh my God, they're so adorable.
Thanks, Addy.
After watching TCP, I never noticed, one of Oprah's eyes is different than the other.
Interesting.
It's okay. Lots of "how was it to kiss a guy?" stuff. Not the most indepth view of the material. (And those of you who aren't fans may chime in, in unison: "what depth?")
I agree; they sort of seemed like they were over being asked that kind of thing, and I think Oprah should've asked better questions.

The questions were generic, but the bits about how Heath and Michelle fell in love were cute, as was everything Jake said.
Both men were actually asked far more thoughtful questions by Jay Leno, who has seemed besotted with the film in ways, clearly, Oprah is not. After her riveting work yesterday, this seemed like one she phoned in, (earlier) on tape, not terribly invested in the material. She quoted a lot of other people without registering much emotion of her own.
Of course, her titillation may also fill the seats. She made it look like a must-see for other than artistic reasons. Tickets will be sold.
Jake ultimately scored the biggest points today, which may serve him with the Oscar voters. He's still the dark horse for supporting, and if he wins the SAG...
Whatever. I'm OD-ing on BROKEBACK and Oprah, and damned if today they weren't joined at the hip.

Yeah, I'm right with ya on the ODing of Brokeback. Isn't it time for another move to stir controversy? Like, Underworld or Nanny McPhee.
OH, MY! She's a witch, and the characters in Underworld are werewolves and vampires! We can't ahve our children watching movies about these things!
I think the interview was good. I think it was lighter than the normal stuff. We have seen all the deep stuff on other shows and it was fun hearing how the actors were feeling. We hardly ever see Anne and it was neat to get her take on it. Oprah did a great job. You have to remember this movie has been out for over 50 days the actors are probally wanting to talk about other things. She said the movie was brillant, and to go see it. what more did you want, that you have not seen in other interviews?
You're right, NYC. In hindsight, I realize what a strategically commercial segment it was. She basically had fun chatting up the titillation angle, making it seem unmissable by people who don't attend arty stuff. It was a new layer of a publicity machine, let's not forget, and she got what no one else did: the two guys together. It ended up showing the charm of each. It wasn't a set of interviews designed to help promose Annie Proulx's voice and prescience. It was about saying "don't miss this hot topic movie-movie. These boys are hot."
I love Jake. Always did, but after this interview...love him more. And yeah, I was able to guess all the answers to who's the ___ before they answered.
But I don't know...I haven't been watching I guess so many interviews, was just lucky to catch this one...but some of the questions just...you hafta be really comfortable with yourselves to do this part and was it uncomfortable making out? I mean the first part...what? And second, how is it really different than actors making out w/ a girl they don't find attractive? It's acting. Some of them they kinda seem a bit perplexed about what they were supposed to say. Oh well, I do agree it was cute seeing them all together, especially Anne's "oh you could see Heath and Michelle's sparks from the start."
How Heath and Michelle fell in love?
Maybe it was the moment when she looked at the pregnancy test, looked around and said, "Score! Got him!".
Touching moments in straight romance. Can't live without 'em!
wickedrentq, making out with someone of the same sex is not something that is often done. Jake is straight so yes he would have to be comfortable with himself. It would be alot diffrent than making out with an ugly girl. And yes it is acting, but acting is a challenge and if you are doing something that you have not done it would take time. Oprah asked questions alot of people were wondering.

Did I detect a hint of homophobia with Oprah today? At one point she starts saying how the film has stirred up debate and zeroes in on the fact that they were cheating on their wives, and how obviously that was bad. Instead of saying 'How do you feel about...", she said something to the effect..."wouldnt you agree that it was wrong that they cheated..." Oprah had already made up her mind on the subject and thought it had an obvious answer. Heath's answer pretty much stopped that line of questioning.
Of course all cheating is wrong, but the point of the film to me is that if we lived in a society where gays were accepted, then Ennis and Jack would be living on their ranch and they wouldnt have gotten married in the first place.
Exactly. The closet forces some to choose the DL--and that can hurt wives.
Let's face it: this so-called "gay icon" has never been comfortable with the idea of homosexuality. Obviously it never dawned on her that perhaps these two gay men marry women out of fear of death and ostracization.
Here we go again.
she never claimed she was not "homophobic". most people in america, including gays that wont come out act "homophobic". That word is thrown around like crazy and yes people fear they things they are not use to. ang lee actually said the same thing at a screening of the film. they lied to their wives, and that was wrong so what she said was true. no matter what someone does people always have to get so angry. alot of people are going to see the movie. that is great. she said she thought it was brillant.
Was it just me or did Oprah say that even people who are comfortable with gays find gay marriage controversial? Maybe I misunderstood what she was trying to say but that's what I took it as. Heath bascially told her he thought it was sad that people criticze how others choose to love.
I think she was thinking of her bud who wrote "When Stella Got Her Groove" and that her hot young hubby turned out to bat for the other side. LOTTA bitterness there.
On the other hand I know of a guy who has been married 2x and ended both marriages by "coming out"- guess what- he is getting married again- to another woman. Some times it's not about survival or passing, or even covering, its just passive aggressive meaness.
