So, based on who we saw, present and accounted for, at the end, The following are still alive:
Edie
Gabby
Bree
Orson
Mike
Susan
Lynette
Mrs. McClusky
Dana and her husband
Presumed dead:
The mayor
Sylvia (not a friend to anyone)
MIA:
Tom and kids
Ida (friend)
Carlos (friend)
Current characters assumed away from the neighborhood. But not necessarily safe.
Julie
Danielle
Andrew
Dana's daughter
So, I think it's down to Carlos and Ida. My guess is that Ida woke up, saw the cat missing and went out in the storm to find it, then BAM! This would make for some meaty conflict between Lynette and McClosky as well as some heavy 'guilt trip' acting for Lynette. Flow chart to follow.
And what's wrong with the Scavos' basement? Why did they have to go to McClosky's in the first place?
I thought I'd heard the quote in the opening as something like "one woman will lose a husband, and everyone will lose a friend," as in it will be only one person (he is both husband and friend) who dies- did everyone else hear it as two different people, one husband and one friend, who will die?
That's interesting. I didn't think of that. But Victor isn't really anyone's friend. Is he?
That's interesting. I didn't think of that. But Victor isn't really anyone's friend. Is he?
Yeah, I agree that he is not, that's why I was thinking Tom or Carlos to be killed (if Marc Cherry can kill off Rex I put nothing past him) to make it work...but now with the strike, who knows if we'll ever find out who dies...
I hated this episode. It ranks up there with "Grey's Anatomy"'s ferry accident. SO over the top. And I totally agree that Lynette was a b*tch for guilting Mrs McClusky into taking a huge family in, letting their bratty kids go crazy and of course, putting Ida's cat in danger. Hey Tom, next time, bring your inhaler.
Regardless of the wording of the "friend" part, it did say ONE wife will lose a husband. Victor is dead. He was still Gabby's husband. Any other husbands dying is cheating. Someone else MUST die though based on the "friend" part since Victor was no one's friend - it just can't be a husband (which makes Tom safe). The only one that is borderline in danger from that is Carlos since he wasn't married to Gabby at the time. Would the writers pull away EVERYTHING from Gabby though - Victor, Carlos, AND the money? I don't think he's dead either - I'm betting on Ida still...
I agree it would be cheating to have Tom die. I'm still with Ida.
Or the gay guys! I forgot about the gay couple. Maybe one of them was pierced through the heart by flying debris from their fountain.
It was all Dorothy Gale's dream -- she'll wake up and every thing will be as it was.

In an interview I saw with Marc Cherry last week he said that 3 people would die in the tornado. I'm guessing so far that would be Victor & Sylvia so there is still one to go. The only thing is I swear I thought he said that all 3 were regulars, but I'm sure I'm mistaken since Sylvia obviously is not a regular.
I felt they got rid of Sylvia very quickly, but then again, it looks like she was a catalyst to get things going between Dana Delaney and her husband, especially since Bree spilled the beans about the tatoo.
Kind of interesting that they killed off Victor, too.
I'm glad they made Edie somewhat forgiving, as she was really getting on my nerves.
I assume that Ida will be the dead friend. Especially since Mrs. McCluskey gave the heartfelt speech about Ida being her friend. We never knew they were such close friends before.
In usual style, DH creates new information when it serves the show and drops other characters as it needs. It carea little to nothing about continuity.
Also, it totally irked me that Wisteria Lane is demolished and one of the last shots is Susan and Mike leaving the ER dreamily, as if they were unaware a tornado touched down. Such BAD continuity.
PS- WHAT A WASTE OF A TREMENDOUS ACTRESS SUCH AS MELORA WALTERS. A TOTAL WASTE. Why even introduce her?
They also have dropped Carlos' hit on Edie. Or did we only think it was a hit and it was Carlos getting the info on his account? I'm confused.
I guess Gabby will end up with whatever Victor leaves her.
Anakela, the narration at the beginning said "in four short hours, one of these women will lose a husband, and they will ALL lose a friend." (I set my digital recorder to tape is as I was away this weekend, and wasn't sure I would see it.)
I read somewhere that they casted a same-sex love interest for Andrew in the form of a construction worker hired to help rebuild. But with the strike, I don't know if the guy they hired will be brought back when production resumes, I don't think he ever made it to the set.
I think it will be Tom that bites it. He's a husband and a friend to the ladies, and I think they will set it up that McClusky and Lynette will set up shop together in Lynette's house while they rebuild McClusky's house.
For the third time. It can't be Tom. Victor is dead. The dude got impaled. No one survives that. He's a husband. He's dead. We're done.
"He's dead. We're done."
Why? Just because YOU say so?
Get over yourself.
But who else could this friend of everyone's be?
Didnt Gaby walk out on Victor - so technically he's not her husband anymore.
I think Tom and the kids are dead, that would be great material for Felicity Huffman to tackle. And that would give her an out and have Dana Delaney be a permanent housewife.
Good God, what a horrible episode.
I am only sorry the woman who narrates is already dead so they couldn't kill her off. That narration and the way it is delivered is getting more annoying and pretentious every week.
Felicity Huffman is working my last nerve this season. That is something I never thought I would say.
There were a few nice moments between Edie and Gabby and Bree and Delaney's character, but over all it was laughably bad.
Is there a show on TV that does not use a narrator? I am so tired of voice overs.
I'm pretty sure I read an article or saw an interview with the guy who plays carlos and he was talking about how he wouldn't cross the picket line to film but they should ease up on Eva..... Which makes me assume that he's still around. But I could have imagined that interview...
But Gabby and Victor were still married. They hadn't gotten divorced yet.
Jeryb, that is why people are saying that HE is the husband who is lost.
You just know that since Gabby is the Widder Mayor, she will be taking his place and have to "rebuild" Wisteria Lane. She and Carlos will end up running the Town.

To answer a few of the questions that were brought up here (maybe they were answered, I didn't read every post).
It was the Scavos house that Lynette and Mrs McClucky went in to and Mrs McClusky's house was leveled. In the scene where the tornado was approaching, McClusky strated toward her house and was pulled away by Lynette into the Scavo house.
The illegitimate daughter was in McClusy's house because when Lynette asked if they could stay in her basement, McClusky said "All seven of you?"
Julie Myer is away on a school trip. There was a scene where Katherine was talking to her daughter on the phone and said "No, don't come home. We paid a lot for that school trip. You and Julie have a good time."
I think Ida will be the one who died. There was a lot of foreshadowing there with Mrs. McClusky's speech and the fcat that she risked her own life to save the stupid cat. I certainly hope they won't kill off any of the show's sexy, hunky men like Tom, Carlos or the gay couple.
I agree that it was not a good episode. Over done, to say the least, and they took the easy way out by killing off Victor rather than play out that storyline.
I think it's pretty safe to ssume that the husbad who is lost, as mentioned in the start of the episode, is Vitor.
Even if they did not kill Victor doesn't mean they would have played out that story line.
And I think they DID kill off the gay couple.
After much fanfare at their entrance, they sure have been swept to the curb with all the other debris.
