I always start out really attentive and interested during the broadcast, but somewhere in the middle of the TV awards, I get really, REALLY bored.
"Sad to see no cast members from "Law and Order:SVU" on the list"
the writing during mariska's pregnency has been kinda **** so i'm not that shocked. the material they've had to work with hasn't been great
Do these nominations represent the 05-06 season or the current one?
ellen pompeo.....eeeeeew.
I think Pompeo is a bad version of Zelleweger.
Speak like a grown up, dagnabbit! You're a freakin' doctor!
I wish that STUDIO 60 had received more than just a single nomination for Paulson. Amanda Peet and Matthew Perry both deserved nominations, as does the show as a whole. Let's hope the Emmys correct this error.
I also noticed Beyonce's golden globes weren't nominated.
HATERS! GARGOYLES! All of 'em!
How did Bobby get a nod ?

Beyonce was nominated for Best Actress in the Comedy/Musical category.
No Catherine O'Hara! What the hell? That was her most nuanced performance yet! Good for Dreamgirls though. And Borat. And Scorcesse.

its the 2006 calendar year. I think. because at the top of the list on the HFP website it says "for the year ended Dec. 31st 2006"

Although I was very disappointed in the movie itself, I completely agree with you. The scene when O'Hara said, "Say Marilyn Hack...say Marilyn Hack" over and over again...well, she deserved a nomination for those few seconds alone. She was fantastic.
I actually found For Your Consideration be an interesting film. Very funny, but you almost had to know how Hollywood works to get all of it. And Guest's okay or mediocre [the film wasn't mediocre I think] is better than most people's best.
I thought O'Hara was wonderful in FYC (which was kind of a disappontment, but still funny regardless). The scene you mentioned, Blueroses was great, as was her little drunken tirade with Fred Willard at the end! Too funny!!!
OK, after I saw they nominated Emily Blunt for The Devil Wears Prada instead of Abigail Breslin and Catherine O'Hara, I just gave up.
No Bill Condon for Direction OR Screenplay?
No Little Miss Sunshine for Screenplay?
No Matt Damon for Best Actor in a Drama?
Bobby for Best Picture?
The TV nominations were a lot better, it was thrilling to see America Ferrara getting some recognition (though Vanessa Williams and Becki Newton deserved nominations).
Well, it should be noted that the HFPA decided to put Abigail Breslin and Catherine O'Hara in the LEADING category, so Emily Blunt wasn't ever their competition as far as the Globes go.
Thanks for the clarification, theatreguy, that makes a lot more sense now.
EDIT: I just looked at the Best Leading Actress-Comedy nominations and I still would have given Breslin a nomination over Anette Bening.

Not what I meant. It was a joke.
It's okay Mister Matt--they don't remember Bette Midler's joke....
And Borstal is right--the Golden Globes have never recovered from the Pia Zadora incident (she defeated Kathleen Turner among others) and are viewed by many as a popularity contest among reporters who love their cover girls--Nicole, Madonna, Sharon, Renee, etc...I mean Madonna (EVITA) beat Frances McDormand (FARGO) and didn't even get nommed for the Oscar that Frances later won.
Woo to AMERICAN FERRERA & UGLY BETTY! Well deserved
As was JENNIFER HUDSON's nomination.
