After Eight I was refering to my comments about people with degrees feeling entitled to a higher pay when they might not be qualified or have the practical experience for a job.
Taz, I think that only happens when a post reads like a 5 year old wrote it. Calling them a teenager is a compliment!
And I"m biased, being almost the chronological age of those pesky senior citizens.
Imho the craft/artisan industry won't be blighted by CGI, SNAFU. TV didn't kill radio (go ahead, sing the song), internet didn't kill TV, 3D animation didn't kill 2D animation.
nygrl, I have already seen it happening. Students aren't learning mold making or chemical processes. They are learning 3D Animation and rendering. It is rare these days for someone to come out of art school and have a full rounded foundation.
That's too bad. It's hard to train for today's job market. It's like whack a mole.
As a film student (motion picture and television is what the school calls it), i'm taught the classic Hollywood style of filmmaking with actual film and editing manually as opposed to digital. I hate it but its a good thing to know how to do.
All I want to do is write anyway.
I guess what I'm saying is there are better schools than others.

Why can't someone just agree with the point of the one article? What does it have to do with others articles the author has written. It doesn't.
Some people here read way too much into everything, just so you have something to complain about.
I can't speak for anyone else, but since I knew the information in the article about unemployment was just a regurgitation of "welfare queen" lies I didn't really have to read anything into it. And I didn't go looking for the "Coonery Buffoonery" stuff. It was right there on the same page.
They say Hitler was an excellent painter but we don't tend to let that fact overshadow his other more ... destructive talents.
it seems to me that the most common insult that gets hurled on the boards is to imply that someone is a teenager
...or to imply that someone actually likes the music of Frank Wildhorn.
Honestly, I don't know where I would possibly forward the link that anyone would give money to a perfect stranger. I have my own kid I'm saving money for college for. No offense.
We should all be so lucky to one day be Blue Hairs that sit in matinees and cluck like know it alls! Now get your damned ball off my lawn!

I'm pretty sure the baby boomers have outlawed aging. If nothing else, they'll do it better than anyone before or since!

I'm old enough to remember a time when you asked a stranger for money you at least offered to have sex with them in exchange for it.
60 is the new 30 dammit! Where the f%ck is my poligrip?
There was a radio show that, yet again, addressed the issue of jobs, etc, that I caught some of today. No big surprises but one of the experts said, that at least here in Canada (but I assume it's the same in the US), a big shift that has proven an issue, and only really became one in the past generation or two, is that employers no longer tend to work with a ladder system. They hire people for a specific job instead of upgrading from within where people would traditionally start at the bottom and have the potential to move to the top. And often those people hire for a specific job are let go when that job is no longer needed. He seemed to think this was a massive problem, and only becoming worse.
I was aware of some of this--my Grandpa after the war started with a big oil company here, with no post secondary education, at the very bottom level. He obviously worked very hard, but he retired as an exec with the company--where he seemed to be quite respected partly because he knew so much about the different levels of the company. Obviously that wouldn't have been possible even a generation or two after him--but it does seem like things have strongly shifted. (They also brought up, as mentioned here, that it's true that a degree simply doesn't mean as much as it once did, at least in many jobs.).
We sure are on a tangent now, lol!
The OP and his "defender" are long gone.
LOL, I admit it's probably been exhausted--and has little to do with handout request...

He made twenty-five bucks today. Besides Jordan, which of you donated?
At least this wasn't billed as a major announcement that will be happening in 10 minutes.

This caveat emptor on the donation page should be the definitive statement on this issue:
Nicholas Ray Golden will receive your payment directly. All payments are final.
Only support people you know & trust.
"There has been such a generous outpour of support from friends, family, and even some people that I don't know personally. I'm very thankful for everything that everyone is doing! Hopefully, with the support of all of you who continue to share this, I will reach my goal! :) <3"
And he's raised a whole 5%!

I can remember a time when I didn't realize how much money $19,000 really is.
Yeah, from his family! (FB) The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. No good credit in that entire gamily? Really? Somebody ain't financially responsible.
The whole thing is pitiful. Also hysterical are the old threads regarding the tuition and reputation of AMDA.
