Anyone get tickets for the 21st or 24th? I got for the matinee at the Empire25, bringing my 22 year old son who never viewed this at a movie theater in all it's glory and heard the score the way it should be.
Can't wait until my baby is jumping (he's 6'4") into my lap from fright.
I saw it on the screen last year at IFC. The film isn't scary to me, but even after seeing it dozens of times, it's still suspenseful as all hell on the big screen. I would have loved to have seen it in '75 when it actually did scare people, though. It would have been a blast.
Saw it on a first date back in 75. Scared to death.
Since we have been getting all these reports of shark attacks, it makes it more realistic.
I saw in 75 and wouldn't go near a large body of water for a year afterward, even the fresh water lake we used to take the kids to at Bear Mountain! LOL!

My dad took us to see this back in the summer of '75 when it premiered. It made quite an impression on me back then. I was 7 years old.
It's a great movie but like The Exorcist it doesn't scare me at all.
The only thing that still gets me is *SPOILER BUT REALLY???* the floating head.
I'm going to try to get there because one of my all-time favorite film characters is the older woman who utters the lines 'Are you going to close the beaches?' and 'Never! You'll never be an islander, Ellen.' I have no idea who the actress is, but just is just fantastic. My best friend and I were sitting on Fire Island this past weekend and decided we want to make a short film about her daily on Amity during the shark attacks. You know, just going to the market, talking about the shark. Making an omelette.

Read the book MEG by Steve Alten. It is soon to be made into a movie. Makes Jaws seem like a kitten!
The only part of the film that ever freaked me out and still does to this day is that opening scene.

When I saw it the summer it premiered, my favorite scene was when Richard Dreyfuss pulls down his sweatshirt, exposing his furry chest and explains a woman broke his heart. I'm assuming he was only with men after that.
What 10 year old little girl gets a crush on Roy Scheider after seeing Jaws? This one!!
Brian, MEG is finally going into production after years of development hell.
Eli Roth is directing.

Thanks Taz. Eagerly anticipating the movie!
I wasn't aware of who is directing it. I'm on Steve Alten's email blast about his new books, announcements, etc
I really loved MEG. Have recommended it to half a dozen friends and they all devoured (pun intended) the book and the sequels. It is not even something my mother would read but she eagerly asked for the additional books after MEG. She loved them. Real page turners. Her comment was "I'm afraid to take a bath after reading that."
There's something about JAWS that's comforting to me. I have it on my tv every single time it's on. Hmm, that might just make about 100 times. I'll never get tired of it.
Me, me! My son is taking me on Wednesday - my mother's day gift. Neither of us have seen it on the big screen!
Awwwwww you are in for a treat! You will see why it scared tha pants off of people. Jaws, The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby are films I watch whenever they are on!

Oh, we've seen it -- heck, I even TEACH it, but never on the big screen!
How good is Robert Shaw in Jaws. Great film, never tire of watching
What amazes me is that, although it was nominated for Best Picture (One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest won), it received no nominations for Director (Steven Spielberg), Screenwriting, Actor or Supporting Actor (Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss or Robert Shaw). It won Oscars for Film Editing, Original Score (John Williams) and Sound.
The latter part of the film, when Scheider, Dreyfuss and Shaw are on the boat, is just amazing. Great acting performances, well written, directed – such an enjoyable piece of film and storytelling.
Dramamama, that was what I was talking about! It is incredible on the big screen!
To quote my Dramatic Writing teacher, "JAWS is the well-made play in film form. You could do JAWS onstage and barely change a thing."
JAWS: The Play, coming soon? Brian D'Arcy James in the Dreyfuss role, with shark effects by Teller?
I can see it as a musical with score by Wildhorn . The shark gets the big power ballads.

No, it deserves the John Doyle treatment with Jabberjaw and his band.
this made me think of SNL when there's a knock on the door. "Who is it?" "It's the shark."
LOL!
"Who is it?"
"Candygram"
Did they ever reply with "it's the shark."
