Okay, heres my theory on LOST judging by what has been presented so far.
I think the Island is like an electrical unit. All this power creating an elctromagnetic field or wave which camoflages the island from radar and bascially makes it invisible (think the Philadelphia Experiment but a whole island rather than an aircraft carrier)This is why the numbers need to be fed into the computer, it basically resets the charge. Think of the island being on/off. Last season when Penny set out a team to find Desmond and we saw a glimpse of the island pop up on radar, that was due to them not re-setting the computer and feeding those numbers into it. The island was briefly turned off then turned back on again. This electromagnetic wave has pros and cons.
The pros is it can cure and heal wounds (Locke can now walk, Roses cancer is gone)
The Cons, mothers die while giving birth, Ben is not healing like he should, and, in my opinion, all that electricity running 24/7 is effecting the body/mind and making people physically healthy but not mentaly. On the island, they see things that aren't there or halucinate.
Again, this is just a wild theory and there are many holes in it, but something tells me I am not off by much.

I see dead people.
I highly doubt they are dead. It sounds more like there was a conspiracy from the Others, the Dharma people, or whoever knew that all these people were connected and made sure that they all got on the same flight. They're just telling the world that these people are dead so no one looks for them and so they can do with them whatever it is they wish to do.
anyone watch last night?
I did ... I still am not buying the "we're all dead and in hell" bit. If they already were dead, how could they kill each other?!?
I agree. Plus I believe the producers have gone on the record to say they are not in hell or purgatory.
I wonder why Rousseau was getting that dynamite out of the Black Rock.
I actually enjoyed Wednesday's episode. Locke's father deserved to die. The actor who plays Sawyer did a fantastic job.
And I feel bad for Sawyer. He really loves Kate, but she's just not into him.......
Woah...we just watched the promos for next week frame by frame...they flashed some crazy stuff!
I just read on CNN website that "Lost" now has an end date. They will go 3 more seasons, 16 episodes per season. Overall, the series will end after 120 shows.
So we are half way through at the end of this season? They have a lot of explaining to do!
Whoooa, what the hell?
No. Nope. I refuse to believe it. I'll post more tomorrow. But I refuse to believe it.
Is it really possible that this show just gets better and better every week???
And what the HELL was THAT scene in the shack???
WOW
What a great episode!
OH MY GOD. WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED.
Holy cr*p! That was great!
The scene in the shack made my heart race ...

Did anyone else catch the glimpse of Jacob? In all that mess, for a brief moment you saw a man sitting in the rocking chair. He had a grayish-white beard and almost looked to be wearing some sort of robe. I'm REALLY starting to think he is some how related to the Biblical Jacob.
Jacob's wife Rachel was unable to have children for years, until she finally gives birth to Joseph (yes, the one with the Dreamcoat) and later BENJAMIN...and she dies giving birth to Benjamin! And then later, all the women and children of the tribe of Benjamin are killed, at which point the men begin stealing women and children from another tribe. Jacob also was known for having "struggled with God", and he actually wrestled with an angel.
Also, Jacob was favored by his mother while Essau, his twin, was favored by their father Isaac (which might play into why killing your father seems important lately). And the Bible saws that God loved Jacob but hated Essau.
And the glimpse of Jacob freakin looked like a guy from Biblical times. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?????
Good so it wasn't just me! Jason didn't see him so I thought maybe I was insane!
And another twin tie-in - remember the Bad Twin from last summer? All about a good and bad twin...Interesting...
And no, I didn't see him - I need to go back and watch again - this is the exact reason I let my DVR record as the show is on!
*******************SPOILER (you've been warned)***************************************
But what the HELL happened at the end??? Locke can't be dead. Two very strong reasons why:
1) The guy fell out of an eight story window and survived. He's on the island now. What would have been the point of him surviving just to die like this.
2) More importantly, from a writer's point of view, we STILL haven't seen how it is he can walk again. There's no WAY the writers are going to leave THAT little tidbit out there with no answer!
So, he can't be dead.
If you want to see an interesting Lost theory (and have some time on your hands) check out www.lostisagame.com -- it's just crazy enough a theory it might work - though how they're going to explain what happened with Jacob is beyond me.
Two episodes in a row with simply incredible scenes - two of the best scenes I would say not just in Lost history, but two of the most memorable, strong scenes on TV all year - if not ever.
I frakkin' love this show. (Sorry, just getting my full geek on for the benefit of Caitie).
Wow-----that's about all I can say! No one at school watches this the actual night it's on anymore, so I need to rave here!
First..the biggie...Locke.....I don't know if he's dead or alive, but we do know the producers promised some big cast shakeups.....maybe all those rumors about Jack dying were just a smokescreen!
Second---Alpert---how come he looked exactly the same in Ben's flashback? Does the island keep you from aging? I know this ties into the "Mittelos"= lost time theory. Could also answer why they can't have children. They don't need to if they don't get old and die.
Third--If the natives and Ben "purged" Dharma from the island, how does Desmond fit into all of this? Is he really Dharma? Is he a native? Why is Dharma still dropping food at the island? Are the natives pretending to be Dharma?
More later...students are here!

Desmond sort of happened upon the island after problems with his boat, didn't he? So he's not a native.
Biblical Connection: According to the bile, Jacob fathered two sons, who eventually became the leader of the 12 tribes of Israel.Jacob's youngest son was named Benjamin.
Anyone notice a pattern with people on the island having issues with their fathers? Jack, Locke, Sun, Ben, Hurley, Walt/Michael,Claire,Kate, and so on. Almost every character has some negative memories of their father. Maybe just a coincidence, but still......
Also, the title of the show was the man behind the curtain. Yet ANOTHER wizard of Oz reference. Could all this be Ben/Henry Gale? Could Ben be 'the man behind the curtain'pulling the strings? I think if he is not then Jacob IS the smoke monster and Jacob and Locke will work with one another. Do not foget, in season one Locke saw the smoke monster face to face and was not affraid of it. As a matter of fact Locke said, "I have seen the face of the island and its beautiful".Locke has a connection to the island and is probably the ONLY One who does not want to leave it.This could be a motive for Jacob and Locke to work together and for Jacob to help Locke. Also, lets not forget Locke has the ability to heal pretty fast.
Ben seemed surpised that Locke could not see Jacob. If Jacob is the smoke monster, he can manifest into other images like he did with Echo's dead brother who was a priest.Something tells me that is a major clue. Is it possible Ben is in control of Jacob? COuld this be why Jacob asked for help?
I was thinking along Biblical lines last night as well.
Did they ever say Ben's father's name?
I think its Roger (Roger 'Workman' was the body Hurley found in the VW van)
