*sigh* LH... Again, this is a discussion board. You and others have had strong negative words to say about her. I am responding with strong positive words. That's how this exchange works. I'm engaging in a debate. If anything, you are the one who is being disrespectful, consistently. I really don't know what your problem is.
I wish I was more surprised that you didn't add anything to the conversation

How could one possibly converse about Gaga's flaws with another too stubborn to even acknowledge those flaws exist?
For the last time, I'm not being stubborn. I simply disagree. I could easily accuse you guys of being stubborn. Pot, kettle. Had someone brought up her performance on X-Factor, or her performance with R. Kelly on SNL, or the half-brilliant/half-frustrating "Born This Way" tour, or any number of other topics, then I would agree.
But as far as this album is concerned, I don't think she is doing any wrong from a musical standpoint. And I've enjoyed the majority of her performances in this era. Are we at an understanding, or not?

Liza if you put me in a ring.....I would win
The sound of her album seems like its from 3 different albums, she has thrown everything and the kitchen sink in to try and give it life. I don't hate Gaga I just ain't a fan, like I said I think Gypsy is a great song. And endlessly defending every aspect of her on here won't work. I am a big Madonna fan but when I say I don't really like her films, a couple of her albums I don't like etc oh and it's not me who brings her up in conversation.....I get jumped on for being obsessive (Namo oddly isn't)
If you think it's a great album that's fine, I'm glad you enjoy it, I'm gonna agree with the critics though, it's kinda meh.
And I'm glad you agree with the critics.. Your description of it reminds me more of "Born This Way", to be honest. If you choose to listen to it more, hopefully the variety and flow of the album will make more sense. Or maybe not :)

There's only one way to know for sure.....

Oy. Even I've checked out at this point, lol.
Perhaps it's for the best lol. Goodnight, all. Updated On: 11/21/13 at 12:40 AM
"Yes MDNA sold 358 thousand but had some tour bundling (you could click an option to get the album with your ticket for a few dollars more), I think she would have sold pretty much the same anyway because if they were buying a ticket for over 100 dollars then im guessing they would have purchased the album"
I don't agree with that. I liked MDNA but Madonna's tours generate a lot more excitement than her new music these days.
And I don't remember clicking on anything to get the album. I just remember it being included with my ticket purchase.
I'm not saying all but most would have purchased the album.....it was the MDNA Tour. And you did not automatically get the album(that would mean she sold a few million more worldwide than she did), u had to select that package (as I did)

I know, right? I giggled a bit when I realized that.
So, I'm assuming Gaga did not, in fact, "reinvent herself"?
"So, I'm assuming Gaga did not, in fact, "reinvent herself"?"
By choosing not to reinvent herself she has reinvented herself.
By choosing not to reinvent herself she has reinvented herself.
Bingo. http://www.z100.com/articles/z100-news-451815/watch-lady-gaga-does-not-want-11814837/
and...
You should laugh even more that we completely disagree with each other yet we can be nice and civil with each other rather than be a grade A bitch like so many on here are.
Correct.
From the official press release of the tour announcement:
"US residents ordering tickets online to a US performance will receive their choice of a digital or physical copy of Madonna's new MDNA album with every ticket purchased."
So no...I didn't choose to get the album with my ticket. The only choice I made is if I wanted a digital copy or CD. Every ticket bought in the US came with that choice automatically at no extra charge.
Liza are we psycho fans just because we really like an artist? To be fair I would rather be that than a mean spirited person.
Eric I stand corrected if that's the case, it was not like that here in the UK. I still find it odd though considering she played to way more people than reported tour bundling so it doesn't really add up. Just her shows in New York come to more than the tour bundling figures. I know in the UK and rest of Europe it was offered as an option, you paid a few pounds more and could get the album or you could just choose the ticket without album
Eric it was a code that was given in the US so fans who purchased tickets COULD have the option to redeem it for the album. According to Billboard the cost of the album was figured in to the cost of the ticket.

It adds up perfectly. As loathe as she is to face the fact (and it probably explains why she holds her paying audiences in such disdain), what it says is that people will not take a free copy of her new material. Madonna is a catalogue artist and the people who are excited to see her shows are there for La Isla Bonita but most importantly, HOLIDAY! OMG! HOLIDAY!!!!
It's the same with most concert performers who have been at it a long time. The last time I saw the Stones, people went to the bathroom during the two new singles, two new singles I happened to LOVE but which the audience had obviously never heard and were simply not interested in hearing.
That is where Madonna is. Her fans buy tickets to her shows and say "no thank you" to a complimentary copy of her latest work.
Or Namo luv they had already Pre ordered the album before the tour tickets went on sale since it was the biggest Pre order album.

Whatever you need to believe; however you need to clap to keep your Tinkerbell alive! I'm surprised that all the people who love her so much they pre-ordered the album didn't want another copy to share with their friends and to turn them onto the exciting and original new work on MDNA, including the buzz single.

I had the exact same experience the last time I saw B-52s when they released Funplex. They only sang TWO NUMBERS from the new album. The rest was just their greatest hits parade (and Cindy struggled painfully through Give Me Back My Man). For the first time, I was severely disappointed by them.

I loved Funplex. I appreciate when people who don't have to bother creating new work in order to sell out their tours are still interested in doing so, even if they can't interest their "fans." That's why I think Madonna is such a special case. It really sounds to me, a listener of music for many decades, as if she doesn't want to record but she has to. At least Gaga sounds like she was completely present when she recorded the vocals on her new album, whether it sells or not.
Oh Namo, Gaga wasn't present vocally when she recorded the new album, David Bowie was.
And who needs to keep 'Madonna' alive? i think she is doing fine, plus i think you are keeping her alive for everyone with just your multiple name checks of her in this thread before i even showed up (but you aint obsessed) Gaga on the other hand, but wait, i know that in your eyes Gaga is doing great so lets not argue about it, who cares about the enormous drop off on this album from the last, the mixed response, the flop film, the fact her single charted high mainly due to You Tube views, the huge second week drop off in the UK and the failure of the album in many markets around the world...If this was Madonna you would be screaming 'she's over etc' but not Gaga, for this to happen only FIVE YEARS in to her career, everything is totally fine. In fact i remember that after Madonna plummeted 81 percent with her album from week one to week two you jumped on her like a dog with a big gay bone, a woman who is in her 50s and been around for 30 years, but when the fresh face Gaga does the same well apparently you don't care about the charts.
PS, also loved Funplex
I also say that Funplex was an amazing album. Totally fresh and fun. Cindy is also sleepwalking at this point. I've seen them live a few times lately.
Gaga's sales are fine. Even Madonna and Britney and others have lower selling albums and then return to have a hit album later on.
The issue with Gaga is her level of expense. She's not cheap to have on the books. They need to sell 10 million copies to make any money with her.
I think she needs to drop the overblown nonsense for a while and just sing. She's totally got it. She doesn't need the smoke and mirrors Madonna and Britney (who cant sing) do.
She really cant tour arenas this time. I think that's why she is playing Roseland. She needs to scale down and re-think her image.
She got too much too soon and it bit her in the ass.
I think the Fame Monster is her best work. The new album, which I enjoy, is kind of a mess. A pastiche of songs that sound like they didn't make it onto other albums. A hodge podge of styles and sounds. It's not a cohesive statement.
Currently, I feel she is lifting A LOT from Missing Persons/Dale Bozzio.
