I don't know that one--and I love Stevie Nicks.
What is it on?

I love Carol of the Bells done by the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Christmas Shoes also makes me want to explode with disgust for the song itself and the people who say "I love that song! It's so sad!" ugh.. shut up.
Am I the only person who never heard of "Christmas Shoes" till this thread.

There are two versions of Stevie Nicks doing Silent Night. You can preview clips of them on Amazon.
IMO, this is the better of the two. It's simple, straightforward Stevie singing a beautiful arrangement. (A Very Special Christmas 5)

This one is overproduced with the background vocals competing with, and sometimes overpowering, Stevie. It sort of turns into a mishmash and I don't like the ending which ends with a steady drumbeat. (A Very Special Christmas)

You must not listen to pop radio stations, because they play that godawful song every hour. I've gotten to the point where I can identify it in three notes and flip the station before I puke.
It really is the most godawful Christmas song ever. It's about this little boy whose mother is dying (at Christmas no less) and he wants to buy her a pair of shoes so she won't have to meet Jesus barefooted. But of course he gets to the counter to pay for the shoes and doesn't have enough money (this is not a comic song but it's hilarious). How this song ever saw the light of day is beyond me because I don't know anyone who likes it.
"Little Dealer Boy" or "Nutmeg" from A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All. Highly inappropriate Christmas music is my favourite kind.
Right now it's Silent Night as performed tonight by Ms. Sara Ramirez on Grey's Anatomy. I am still on a surprise high from that. I REALLY hope it can be downloaded somewhere.
^ I totally agree. One of the few things that redeemed a pretty poor episode all around.

I've only ever heard (read) the title on these Boards (for the past few years). I've never heard the song.

" I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS " this always brings me to tears ......
On the favorite front, I'm surprised no one's mentioned mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g4lY8Y3eoo
I don't know that I've ever heard an ideal version, though, as I prefer the Sinatra lyric shift ("hang a shining star upon the highest bough" replacing "until then we'll have to muddle through somehow," but I really don't like the production on his version. There are dozens of others, but it's hard to pick.
Regarding least favorite, those of us who grew up outside DC and listened to the holiday radio station were forced to sit through a special little number called "Christmas Eve in Washington." It seems to be completely missing from the internet, but if you'd like to hear what it would sound like if an alpaca yodeled a Christmas song while gargling, I uploaded it here: http://www.box.net/shared/7y92o8schi
My #1 is also Nat King Cole's Christmas Song.
This one is pretty ubiquitous from Thanksgiving to Christmas day. A real Yule Log favorite.

For those interested, this year's "Carols For a Cure" is on iTunes. There are some great tracks on this one!
This isn't a Christmas song, but anytime I was in elementary school and middle school in one of my music classes, we would always watch Fantasia around this time and I always liked watching Peter and the Wolf. I haven't watched it in a while (plan on doing so later on today) but I loved the music and the characters, and the little boy reminded me of Pinnochio with blonde hair.
We'd also watch 'Beethoven Lives Upstairs' a lot too around this time.

These movies just remind me of fall, winter, and the holidays.

"One More Sleep Till Christmas" from The Muppets Christmas Carol. I will watch the dvd tonight, and the Christmas season will officially begin for me.
O Come All Ye Faithful...with the Willcocks descant on the second verse.
iflit, I loved it too until I blew out my voice on the descant in choir one year.

The song finally got released.
Sara's a capella Silent Night
Captain & Tennille's I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas, is very addictive...
This is beautiful. Just stunning, really.

lol Jordan. Wow. It sounds like Sandler on a hangover recovering from wisdom teeth removal.
"Run, Run, Rudolph" by Chuck Berry
"Blue Christmas" by Elvis
"White Christmas" by Bing
"Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee
"Fairytale in New York" by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl
I find "Santa Baby" a bit creepy but this 2006 clip of Eartha Kitt (rip) is oddly endearing even in the presence of a tween chorus.
