Robbie, the good thing is you validated the song that I have been perseverating on while I've been wondering why I can't get stuck on something hipper, like Addy with HAIR.
I am pretty sure if I put on The Flesh Failures I might need to be soaked up with blotter paper.
And YES on the organ donation sigh-up, to please Iflit AND Robbie,
You were Cunty about the West Side Story revival and you didn't invite me?
Hmmmmph...
And, yes, my driver's license proudly proclaims: ORGAN DONOR
Not to get off track (of F*CK it...let's get off track a bit...we could use it!)...
I was in New Orleans this past Christmas week. It was the year anniversary of David getting sick and passing, so I needed to be somewhere else. It was a good idea. But then...BUT THEN! I end up with friends at some bar on Bourbon Street that has its own version of Musical Mondays. Well...I'm having a grand time singing to Don't Rain on My Parade, etc. and then they play Body Electric, at which point I burst into tears, manically singing and dancing along. I mean...I looked like Ellen Burstyn in the last 15 minutes of Requiem for a Dream.
And, for Iflit and Namo, from Melba Moore's first album (Living to Give, 1970), one of the most gorgeous versions of "Flesh Failures/Let the Sunshine In" ever recorded.

Geesh, now I am in tears!
I am glad my office door closes and that there are plenty of tissues nearby.

Well. I wish I had a photographer here because my freshly flushed-out eyes look really pretty right now.
I think I might just wear my HAIR shirt today. Not my hairshirt.
PS Robbie, I'm picture Jill Clayburgh in "I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can" crossed with "Black Swan" Natalie Portman.
papa has me crying like a baby (instead of out of frustration, which is the norm.)
I was looking at peace jpegs and found this one.
I said, "That looks like..." and from behind me my wife loudly exclaimed, "A WHOLE LOT OF VAGINAS!" So, here's some peaceful vajayjays for Flitty.

If there's one thing we know for sure, peace does NOT come from penises.
And oh my goodness, I just listened to the Actor's Fund Benefit Recording of "The Flesh Failures/Aquarius" for the first time in years and was blown away once again by Mr Norm Lewis's performance. It's definitely my song of the weekend.

Where's the little thumbs up, like button here?
"I'm so glad we had this time together, Just to have a laugh, or sing a song. Seems we just get started and before you Know it Comes the time we have to say, "So long"."
Peace out!
I'm thinking of Arlo Guthrie's performance of AMAZING GRACE at Woodstock.
Twas Grace that brought us safe thus far
And Grace will lead us home.
I couldn't find it, but I had this one bookmarked.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

This has been a day of total preoccupation with Iflit. The weather has slipped from beautiful sunny warmth, to raging thunderstorms with Hollywood sheets of rain and plinking hail pellets, then more sun, then more rage. At least in my neck of the woods, nature's as unsettled as me.
PS We posted simultaneously PJ. The calmness of that recording is perfect.
Thanks for posting that PJ. It was beautiful. I do not know flity as well as some of you, but this is hitting me like a ton of bricks. I can only imagine what others are going through.
I wish you all a bit of peace tonight.
For some reason THIS is the song floating around in my brain right now:
When she gets there, I kind of think that Flitty will be front and center at this jamfest.
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band.
Jimmy gave us rainbows
And Janis took a piece of our hearts
And Otis brought us all to the dock of a bay
Sing a song to light my fire
Remember Jim that way
They've all found another place
Another place to play
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band>
Remember bad bad Leroy Brown
Hey Jimmy touched us with that song
Time won't change a friend we came to know
And Bobby gave us Mack the Knife
Well look out, he's back in town
They'll all be there together
When they meet in one big show
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band>
There's a spotlight waiting
No matter who you are
'Cause everybody's got a song to sing
Everyone's a star
(Everybody's got to be a star)
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band
It's honestly rare in life that you meet someone that you can't help but adore instantly. Flit exudes beauty and peace. We only spent actual face time together a few times, which I now truly regret, but she was an instant friend. If everyone in the world would strive to be a little bit more like her, we could achieve utopia.
Rachel - "Flitty" - passed away peacefully at 5am.
Her family was by her side.
Prayers and love to all of them for the strength they must find in these coming days.
May flights of angels sing Rachel to her rest.
I love you, my friend. You will live in my heart forever.
Peace, peace, and more peace.
The moment has come we all knew would come, and peace has come to the girl who wanted peace.
We will miss our Rachel deeply, our Iflitiloat, our Kent State hippie chick, our Earth Mama, our choral singer, our transplant nurse, the woman who inspired us to always fight the good fight, whether against injustice or against cancer, and the friend who inspired us with love and to love.
Peace, Rachel.
I am extremely grateful that our paths crossed, however briefly. R. I. P., dear Rachel. Knowing you was a gift I will always treasure.
