I thought Kandy Muse was the queen who I would dislike the most. However, Tina Burner is taking that crown. In the room of winners, asking who is single and possible hookups. That would be a big NO from me on all of them. Although, in the loser's room there are a few attractive....Rose' is very handsome. I'm rooting for Tamisha Iman. She is old school and appears sometimes in Jacksonville. (Although I have never seen her). Her lip sync was good for a club, but she needs to bring more to her game in order to stay.
I’m all for twists to shake up the comfort level of the contestants, but this whole premiere felt overly manipulative. Deliberately showing how the producers pull the strings is a little too “how the sausage gets made” for me.
My theory is the winners and losers were actually opposite and we’re going to see the Porkchopped queens watch next week’s performance and do Ru’s job for her, à la All Stars 3’s tribunal of eliminated queens. But time will tell.
Just on a personal level, I’m Team Rosé. She’s one of the few queens in NYC I’ve seen live and I know what she’s capable of. She’s no Jan, let’s just say that. That being said, and this is true of nearly everyone, that lip sync was hardly her best showing. Olivia wasn’t incredible, but she connected with the song more.
I think I’ve got my eye on Symone at the moment. Her lip sync was a mix of model and stupid, just like her sister Gigi Goode, which is the best possible way to play a first impression. Show them you’re gorgeous, but that you’re not resting on it. My least favorite by far was Tina Burner. Every time she came on the screen, I cringed. Her energy is very Mimi Imfurst meets Sherry Pie and she has a horrible reputation in the city, so I’m hoping she goes more the way of Mimi than Sherry.
I’m just so excited to have this back on my tv every week.
Oh good I’m not the only one who thought the eliminated queens were the real “winners”. I looked over at my roommate halfway through and said “is Ru high?” It was very odd. And YES - I knew Tina was reminding me of someone but I couldn’t place who. Mimi. And I hope she goes soon, too.
Symone is my one to watch, although I'm very on board with Kandy, Olivia, Gottmik, and Utica! Tina is giving me a weird mix of funny and bitter, but she's obviously very talented and I'm curious to see where that goes.

^and I think it’s ridiculous. We refer to drag queens as “she/her”. When will the title of the show be changed to “RuPaul’s costume and makeup challenge competition variety hour”?
A ridiculous opening episode that spent all its time with my least favorite part of Drag Race, the damn lipsync. I want to see creativity, quick wit, personality and Lewks. Stuck in one costume for the entire episode is frankly the worst way to introduce these queens. Please God they return to standard procedures come next week.
My money is on the girls who popped the most: namely Symone and Olivia. Expected the least from these two and couldn't take my eyes off them. Also damn cute as boys.

I tend to agree. I mean it's a persona and the whole point of drag is female illusion?
^ Respectfully disagree that the whole point is female illusion.
Sasha Velour is a great example of a true drag queen who defies gender. As one who spent one night a month for years dressing in drag, I myself can definitively state that the art of drag goes far beyond female illusion-- it's much much bigger than that, and far more entertaining.

"We" don't refer to Drag Queens as anything. There are plenty of Drag Queens or Drag Artists who don't subscribe to that. Hollow Eve AFAB Queen from Dragula uses They/Them.
It's not as binary as that. What exactly do you think is ridiculous about it? They're opening up the phrasing that has for a long time not fit all contestants on the show. There are Queens whose drag is not "Woman", for one Dahli from Dragula whose post-show journey has evolved from a feminine view point to more non-binary looks. I assure you that Ginny Lemon on UK's goal is not to appear as the best "Woman". These are performers who are assuming roles/characters/heightened versions of themselves, not a gender. It's not a good descriptor of what the goal is for the show. Is Yvie the best "Woman"? Was Sharon? Bianca?
"Racers, Start Your Engines and may the best Drag Queen WIN!"
is a COMPLETELY fair replacement and is a step for the show in the right direction following its own troubled past with Trans queens. If they were going to drop the "Gentlemen" part (as they did for AS4 with Gia) it only makes sense to change the other part too because the word play doesn't work anymore! The show isn't airing in 2009 anymore and its time to update the parts that are outdated about it.
The people who think it’s ridiculous are not the people it was changed for, so it doesn’t really matter if you think it’s “ridiculous.” It changes absolutely nothing about the quality of the show and only further extends acceptance of non-traditional contestants. It’s a win-win scenario and only someone being willfully ignorant would call it anything other than progress.

I’m saying it started as female illusion. It’s clearly evolved into something else, which is fine. But they are all playing a character.
I'm really hating the gimmick of having the queens send each other home. There's a simple solution to the dilemma in this episode -- what if the queens refused to give one of their number the chop?
And yes -- Rose is hot as f*ck.
