Another pan for Sex in the City 2, but a very entertaining pan it is.

The reviews for this are brutal. And it seems like EVERY reviewer is over Carrie's puns.

Today I read one that said - when talking about the girls going to Abu Dhabi - "nothing says carefree hedonism like a trip to a largely Muslim society," which made me laugh out loud.

This movie looks gross.

And it will still probably be one of the highest grossing movies of the summer.

I say screw the critics and let the fans decide.

"Bitchtar." L.O.L.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Granted, there are only 29 reviews so far, but at the moment this has a 7% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It looks like that episode of AbFab where they go to Morocco. Only with a larger budget and John Corbett.

Actually, many of those 29 reviewers are the major reviewers (Ebert, Time Out, etc), so I have a hunch their RT number ain't gonna go up too much.

The turbans alone make we want to puke.

Wow. I guess I'll be waiting for Netflix. I figured it might be critic proof for me--but not at 7%!

I hear ya. I may just skip it all together, so it doesn't besmirch the memory of the series and (most of) the first movie. This just looks painful.

They aired a commercial with the typical flopesque "rave reviews with tiny font sources". And, that same commercial had lines I hadn't heard yet--and they were terrible! I could cry into my cosmo.

I don't think it will. My prediction is a decent but unimpressive opening (less than Shrek did last weekend), followed by a steep drop the subsequent weekend.

Yeah, I agree with Calvin. It might open decently, but word of mouth may kill it.

I'm still vexed by the wedding of Anthony and Stanford.

I'm vexed by that match-up as well.

I think twitter will kill it. And, I think that may mean The End for SATC. Sucks in the City

Anthony would NEVER date Stanford. I thought the original movie was pretty bad (aside from the Miranda and Steve storyline, which I thought was beautifully acted and rang true...and Samantha who was just delicious comic relief ) but I enjoyed it anyway because of my affection for the show and the characters. This looks awful. Not even Aidan can save it.

Are they going to go the baby route with Carrie and Big? I can't picture either one of them as parents or believe that they'd even long to be parents. They're much too self-centered.

Loved the series, loved the first movie, but there was nothing in the trailer for this that makes me want to see it.

This writer really lays out the problems he had with the film well.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

So in Abu Dhabi, men have free reign to beat their wives as often as they wish, and homosexuality is an offense punishable by up to fifteen years in prison.

Way to appeal to your core fan groups (women and gays), SJP and Co! Way to stay true to your sexuality, Ms Nixon!

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

The Anthony-Stanford inexplicable love story was one of my biggest problems with the first film (among other problems). For a movie that was at least 30 minutes too long, that story was so rushed and done out of convenience to have the two gay characters fall in love despite being completely unrealistic.

That Slant Magazine review really hit it on the head.

What exactly is the point of the Abu Dhabi story line? So Samantha gets a job offer (by a sheik no less) and invites her friends to tag along? The synopsis on wikipedia says the culture clash is played for laughs but shouldn't they have been prepared for the situation?

I don't care what the critics say about this movie. I'll go opening weekend because according to imdb, a lot of broadway actors have roles in the film.

That's good. They all have "blink or you'll miss 'em" roles that you probably wouldn't be able to even make out on a tv.

It doesn't matter how big or small of a role they have. I like to support projects that friends are involved in.

Good, because their roles are very very small.
