My icon is a picture of me in my dreams... Harry Potter fan is a bit of an understatement for me. My favorite character is Remus Lupin! If he dies, I'll probably throw the book out the window (then of course hurry to retrieve it so I can finish.)
Goblet of Fire movie comes out in 357 days! HBP comes out in who knows when, hopefully soon! Any predictions?

Gary Oldman is one of the finest actors working today. Jackman isn't dark enough, yes I know he plays logan but still, to pull off Black. Oldman was perfect.

In my opinion all of the movies, except the third, have been a let down from the books. I wish they had kept Alfonso on for the rest of the series, he is the only one doing the books any kind of justice.

My wife is a big fan

There is an unpublished Potter book called" Harry Potter & The Preparation of H ". A real pain

Seriously, it looks like each film has done less than the preceding one at the box office. The books are still hot but it appears interest in the movies have cooled down somewhat.

I enjoyed all of the books but prefer the first 2 movies over the third one... still excited about renting it though re: The Harry Potter Thread

Here in this cold white room tied up to these machines, it's hard to imagine life as it used to be. Laughing, screaming, tumbling queen... Like the most amazing light show you've ever seen. Whirling, swirling, never blue... How could you go and die? What a selfish thing to do... RIP Jason

spiderdj82 - You and I are in the same boat then, hurrah for Prisoner of Azkaban!

midnghtdolphin - Originally I wanted Ewan McGregor to be Lupin, but after I saw David Thewlis' performance, the thought was banished. Sirius used to be good looking, but then spent 12 years in hell, and Remus goes through that horrible transformation every month. Once I thought about those factors, I know longer expected them to be dream boats.

Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely my favorite book, which made the movie all the more crushing for me. re: The Harry Potter Thread (I really enjoyed the stylistic elements, but they underused Gary Oldman! ---and was I the only one origianlly picturing a scruffy Pierce Brosnan as Sirius?)

I love the Harry Potter books, but I'm not too sure whether I like the way they've all blended into the one story. I mean...I loved it and everything, but what was Order of The Phoenix about again? Is Half Blood Prince just going to be another 2417346173354213 page chapter?

I originally pictures Johnny Depp as Sirius, but that was short lived.
I pictured Geoffrey Rush as Mad-Eye Moody after I saw Pirates of the Caribbean. "Punished we where!" mentally turned into "Constant vigilance!"

Hugh Grant would have been a good Lockhart.

And won't you feel sorry for them when the three leads get too old and are dumped? Because by the time book 7 comes out, they'll be ancient!

The kids are growing up at the same rate as the caracters they play. I think as long as they want to do them, they will be able to. But contracts are going one film at a time.

Yeah but book 6 and 7 aren't actually out/written yet! It could be another 10 years! Especially with JK being pregnant.

Book six is over halfway done (she said this a couple of months ago) and she also isn't taking a year long break this time, plus book 6 will be shorter than 5.

Anyone who is worried that the children will be too old to play their parts need to keep in mind that there are strong rumors that book 6 will be released in June of 2005, meaning there will only be on more book left to write, and need to also remember a network called WB where 20-30 year olds often play high school students, and lets not forget the show that started it all...90210.

Also, POA nearly beat the Finding Nemo record for most DVD sells in one day, so even if the interests in the movies are waning, they still make much more money than the average movie.
I also think that some people are forgetting an important factor that contributed to POA making less money than the other two (although it's really not that much less and was WB's most money making movie of the year). POA opened during the summer, a big time for money making movies with huge budgets in advertisements while the first two opened around Thanksgiving where the competition isn't as stiff (I mean just look around right now).
I think POA did very well considering it opened between the record-breaking Shrek 2 and the record-breaking Spiderman 2.

I'm also of the opinion that Prisoner of Azkaban was an excellent adaptation of the books, and that Cuaron got what JK Rowling's world was all about.

I am so thrilled that they got Miranda Richardson to play Rita Skeeter in GOF. I think they're probably going to get every single British actor into these movies eventually.

I agree. I love that this film series is turning into a huge party for respected British actors.

I love Harry Potter! I am almost done re reading them all. They are better with each read. My favorite is GOF. I hate that it won't be two films--too much stuff to speed through--that was my gripe with POA. I think the kids can easily stay with the movies--the rest of the books are highschool age.

Huge, huge fan of the books.

The movies were mediocre.
