I am currently buried under about 10 inches of snow with more coming, so the cold weather has gotten me thinking about Ugg boots (yes, random, I know).

In my high school, I swear every single girl has a pair (or in the case of many, multiple pairs) of Ugg boots. I am guilty of having one pair myself (I'll need them if I go to Syracuse or Ithaca for college next year, right!), but there are girls with like 7 or 8 pairs of 100+ dollar boots in every color you can imagine parading down the hallways with them on with skirts (defeating the purpose of extra warmth, no?). So basically - in your area/school/personal opinion, are Ugg boots just as hot?

ha, I go to an all female college in New York City. You think you see a lot of them? re: Ugg Boots

They're quite popular in my city as well. I see them worn more with sweat pants than mini skirts though. That's what all the cool university kids wear. re: Ugg Boots

I got the knock-off brand at for under $35 and they kept me just as warm. They were big here, but they've been overdone...i think the fashion magazines would classify them as "last season".

Yeah, they're really popular here too (but then what else can you expect from Los Angeles). And it's not even cold here!!

I kind of want a pair... they look comfy.

They do look comfy. And they're supposed to be ridiculously warm. I kind of want a pair, but alas, I don't have $100 to spend on ONE pair of shoes.

Ahh the whole other issue of the knock off brand - in my school, the Uggies are so snobby about having the word UGG branded onto the back of their boots though in my opinion the knock off's look exactly like the real things. The best is one girl, the "Queen of the Uggs" with about 8 pairs, who likes to not-so-subtly look at everyone else's boots while she proudly sports her purple (ew?) ones.

One of the girls down the hall from me has a pair of pink ones, which she drew all over with a blue pen. They look so gross, because the pen ran all over the boots and stuff.

haha, I kind of figure if you wear them with pants, you can't see the label (or lack thereof) anyway. re: Ugg Boots

I have a light blue pair of Emus, which is the sister branch of Uggs... I think they're really cute. And they're really warm.

No, no, emcee. When you wear them with pants, you either tuck the pants into the boots, or roll them up so you can plainly see most of the boot. re: Ugg Boots

The boots are extremely comfortable and warm (very good for walking around Ithaca's campus in December, I might add), but the craze around my area is just out of control. I just love it, though, when I see the 45 year old mothers with their jeans tucked into their boots trying to be like the teenagers! re: Ugg Boots Updated On: 1/22/05 at 06:15 PM

Oh, Allie. You and your shoe-wearing technicalities. Maybe we should ask Adam, since... you know, he likes shoes. re: Ugg Boots

In my area, they're not as popular as everywhere else, but people still wear them. I have 2 pairs. Some tan fake ones, and some real ruby ones. I bought the fake ones because I didn't really see the difference, and everywhere I went the tan ones were out of stock. They were comfortable and great, but when I got some real ones there was a huge difference. The fake ones seem itchy and uncomfortable in comparison. Real Uggs are worth the price, in my opinion.

Trust me, you'd fit in at SU. Every color, every style on everyone. Some even carry the bags now too.

I have burgundy slip on slippers from American Eagle that are lined with faux fur just like the Ugg boots. They're extremely comfy and if I wasn't a guy, I'd definitely buy Ugg boots. Furry lined shoes are amazing! re: Ugg Boots
