Weird copywright thing: I was rewatching the Quirky Girl Show on Hulu, and when she said "Now we're going to make our eyes real big while Mamma Cass sings", the music that played on the Hulu clip was NOT Mama Cass.
Um, it's Karmin with a k and an i. And if I wore a Karmin t-shirt would people believe I was wearing it ironically even though I would be lying?
They're one of those bands that assembles at Boston's Berklee College of Music that seems just as much music business calculation as talent (see also, Semi-Precious Weapons [whom I love] and Click Five [whom I loathe]). Sometimes, I find the end results irresistible and the t-shirt's only 20 bucks. (Also, they're engaged.)
What was with the crab sketch? I thought it was a pointless waste of time.

I am a real sucker for run it into the ground long past the time it stops being funny until it gets funny again sketches. Surreal. And with a good ending, which those sketches don't usually have.
Karmin's story is stranger than the Berklee situation. They're a popular YouTube cover band that got signed to a major record deal after one of their original songs was picked up as a theme for last year's NBA playoffs. The problem? Their original songs are so bland compared to their covers. The label is foolish not to launch them with a cover.
And yeah, Amy is rocking the 1940's pin-up look ironically.
I'm really enjoying the show so far. It's great to have Maya back on the show and I loved the appearances by Amy Poehler and Justin Timberlake. Also, I was very schocked to find out before a commercial that Lindsay Lohan is hosting the show on March 3.
Bronx Beat was hysterical! It was so nice to see Maya again! My how both she and Amy have grown in their craft since starting out on the show way back when!
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!
I'll never understand why they continue bring back WHAT'S UP WITH THAT. It's the most consistently unfunny skit they have on that show and it should have been dropped for good after it's first airing.
But besides that - Damn that was a funny show tonight. The game show had me in tears laughing.
I'm sorry but IMO Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph have to be semi cast members and return several times per season together. Maya was just incredible. The highlight for me was The Obama Show.

Funny, I was watching Jason dance and thinking "Damn, at what point is he going to pull a hammy flying in and starting.
Well done episode. I loved that Amy and Mya cracked each other up on the game show sketch. And I also loved the Beyonce sketch. I was hoping that somehow the Kardashians would drop by as well (and perhaps Khloe would also try and steal the baby).
I found "Bronx Beat" and "The Maya Angelou Prank Show" quite funny. Didn't really enjoy "Cosby Obama."
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Well- count me in as someone who is rooting for her to do very well. I'd love to see some positive press for her and she usually does a really good job on SNL. I've watched her since she was on the soap Another World and I do believe she has talent. I just want her to have a win over the tabloids!
Absolutely one of the WORST episodes of SNL ever. Lindsey Lohan hardly had any lines and couldn't handle the little she had. The skits were horrendous. Digital short- horrible. and what's with wasting space with recycled commercials from past episodes?
