I will! I will!
I've so far ignored "Van Helsing", will blow off "The Day After Tomorrow".....might cheat and see the new Harry Potter movie (but only because Alfonso Cuaron directed it and I love him).
Don't drink the Hollywood Kool-Aid kids, you know these over-advertised movies are gonna suck. Send Hollywood a message: Don't go.
It's not so much a boycott as an 'I'm not going to bad movies' credo I adopted years back.
Not going to bad movies pretty much excludes one from summer movies anyway.
Yeah. F*ck Farenheit 9/11.
Sarcasm everywhere.
Having been in the process of moving lately, I don't have a dime to spare, so I will probably wait to rent anything that looks decent. Shrek 2 is something I'd like to see though.
Robert Emmerich, the director of The Day After Tomorrow, made me want to boycott his movie after his stupid, glib comment in The New York Post. He said he hesitated after 9/11 about making a movie in which New York City is destroyed, but that he realized that if he didn't make his movie, "the terrorists would have won". Oh sure. Bad Hollywood disaster films were imperiled after the worst act of terrorism on American soil. What an asshole.
I would skip DAY AFTER TOMORROW except a friend of mine has a small role and a cool death scene.
SHREK 2 was really very good. The audience I saw it with just loved it, kids and adults alike. Better than the first.
I am really looking forward to Shrek 2, and Harry Potter. Well ROTK just came out on DVD so I could have a marathon LOTR day that could be fun.

I've got a ticket for the midnight showing of Harry Potter, but I fully plan to miss all the rest of them.
I think I'd rather try and run 26 miles than suffer through all 3 LOTR movies in a row.
I'm not going to boycott all of them. Only some. Van Helsing was terrible, but The Day After Tomorrow was total fun and I lurve Jake Gyllenhaal. Suleen, who's your friend and how do they die? I can't wait for Spider-Man 2, but my guess would be Catwoman is going to be the one to miss.
Training for a marathon Popa?
I've heard AMAZING things about Harry Potter 3 and Alfonso Cuaron's direction, so I'm looking forward to it!
Hey JohnPopa I have run the marathon and trust me sitting through LOTR is WAY easier!

I love those damned LOTR films, as well you know, Mominator
Color me impressed by your Marathon
The closest I come to a Marathon is the detour I took in Greece...just to see the place where it happened
oooh! I am a tad bit jealous there Ruff! I'd love to go to Greece just to soak up all the history!

It was one of the best trips EVER....however....when you go, dont bother with the Marathon detour....the monument 'tis nothing but a huge mound of grass....it is the Ceremonial Burial Ground, & I dig that, but I think to spend an entire day getting there...not worth it.
Perhaps I was expecting Hector in the form of Eric Bana
LMAO
Thats a high bar, no wonder I was disappointed
The rest of that trip was OUTSTANDING. I love walking in History
Dave and I are thinking about a walking tour of Wales. I've been learning Welsh for the past couple of years, so why not try it out? But Greece still would be alot of fun (and good food too!)

While a lot of summer movies (especially this year) suck, I do have a list of ones I am very excited to see. Many more, I will just wait to see how the reviews turn out.
Harry Potter is must see, as well as Shrek 2 on my list. I'm praying that The Chronicles of Riddick is good as well as Spiderman 2.
But, my number one must see film? The Village!
While I was not really impressed with the second HARRY POTTER film, Alfonso Cuaron is one of my favorite directors and I think he will do an incredible job with it. If anyone here hasn't seen his film A LITTLE PRINCESS, do yourselves a favor and rent it. It's one of the most lush, gorgeous films I've ever seen.
I am gonna see almost all of the blockbusters ! Even when they are bad they are fun and i like that :)
As for Greece, you are all invited for the Olympics ! It's gonna be fantastic and I can be your guide ! It will be a great experience, in the land they were born !
Take care

Not really a typical "summer flick" - but I would like to see De-Lovely with Kevin Kline as Cole Porter.
I'm not usually one for summer blockbusters. I did go to Shrek, which I thought was really cute. I'll probably go to Spiderman II. The others I've heard of so far don't appeal to me.

Already saw Troy, which is prime MST3K material, unintentionally funny throughout. Nice battle scenes, terrible score.
Cannot wait for Spiderman 2 though. Cannot wait.

Oh cooooome oonnnnnn.
Boycotting summer blockbusters? Do we really have nothing better to do?
Shrek 2 by both animation and script standards was undoubtably brilliant. But if you want to miss out- go right ahead.
Mean Girls- quite frankly I'm impressed with Tina Fey for bringing together a teenybopper Lindsay Lohan chick flick, SNL and an important message about teenage girls. I work at a movie theatre, and even the most begrudging boyfriends who got dragged along came out smiling.
As for the other summer blockbusters, you can tell which ones are worth your time and which ones are not. But boycotting them? Come on, as if Hollywood's even going to care.
