I posted a thread about that TCM series, though I can't find it. It seemed to divide people--I remember some people hated the narration and felt that when it went into foreign films it seemed to lose focus, but I agree with you.
I usually hate the stupid CW dramas like the OC or 90210 but I have to say, One Tree Hill is amazing. I'm officially obsessed.

Loving Dexter...I too am about half way through season 7.
Just now finally getting around to the 4th season of Arrested Development.
I'm rewatching Terra Nova after having watched it during its original run. I also just started The Office, and I am totally hooked.

Brian. That's a good season, but you might want to consider just stopping after that. It all goes downhill in the final season.
After watching the first two episodes of Season 8, I decided to only watch the first ten minutes of each remaining episode and then jump to the series finale. From what I had heard, it was supposed to be a terribly received season; worse than Season 6, in fact. I had also heard the ending was both polarizing and unfulfilling.
Everything I heard turned out to be true. You have been warned, Brian!

Like, world cinema is important, y'all. At least know what some of those films are actually about and why they are important.
Ha. Actually, those were some of the more interesting parts for me -- while I'm fairly well versed (at least I like to think) in European and Japanese cinema, I really knew nothing about pre 1980s Chinese cinema, for example and the whole story around Ruan Lingyu, her tragic suicide and epic funeral were all news to me.

Now that I have finished Dexter, I decided to move onto the next series in my queue: Alias. Watched the pilot and I'm on the fence about it. I will give it a few more episodes, though.
Any Alias fans out there? Does it eventually find its groove? The first episode was very jarring and disjointed for me. Too much going on. All very cut up and fragmented in both establishing time and location.

I find myself bingewatching IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, God help me.
DON'T TRUST THE B-- IN APARTMENT 23. Perhaps the best recent network sitcom this side of 30 ROCK. Criminally underrated and prematurely cancelled, but all episodes (including ones which, I believe, never aired during the initial run) now available through Netflix.
Krysten Ritter was award-worthy.
And come Friday, my husband and I will be carving out a significant portion of the weekend for HOUSE OF CARDS season 2.
omg I just spent the last few days and nights immersed in House of Cards. It took me into its world. I'd start watching at around one pm and before I knew it I was going to bed at midnight. I wasn't always sure of what was going on, but I knew enough to appreciate how good the show is.
Season three may not even start shooting until June so i have to start marathoning a different show. Any recommendations besides Breaking Bad? Oh, and I don't like Orangeā¦..

Jane, what genre are you looking for exactly? Here's a few of my past obsessions that I'd strongly recommend...
Friday Night Lights
Damages (similar to House of Cards in certain ways)
Nip/Tuck
Alias
The West Wing
Dexter
I, too, recently finished House of Cards season 2 and will now move on to try out The Killing until Orange... returns with a new season. Also considering Chuck but not sure.

Eris, how far did you get with Chuck since early Feb? What were your thoughts? I'm still deciding on my next bingewatch series and that is a contender.
Headbanc, Way back, I watched the first season of Friday Night LIghts because I knew the lead but it turned out I loved the show anyway. Maybe I'll try that next. As for the other ones on your list, I don't know much about them but thanks for the ideas to look into.

Oh man, Ritter, Dreama Walker, Eric Andre, Ray Ford as Luther, and The Beek from the Creek. RIP that show. I loved it and loathed how ABC handled putting out episodes.

Jane,
Try out Damages and see if you like it. It takes a couple of episodes to find its footing, but I've seen the first two seasons. They were fabulous. It has the same feel of House of Cards, but with slightly more action/mystery and faster paced energy.
Also, Glenn Close is always giving an A+ performance. You can't pass up a show starring Close as a conniving and powerful attorney!
While watching House of Cards, I had to constantly remind myself I wasn't watching Glenn Close, it was Robin Wright. The two look and act practically like the same person to me.
Damages' first two seasons are quite good. Things get shaky after that and by the fifth season, the show's basically become an over-the-top parody of itself. Shame, as I thought they started well.

Agreed completely, Horse. The first two seasons are great and then it all just falls apart in season three. I think they needed to keep Ellen at Patty's law firm. The story lines became too jumbled and fragmented when Ellen made the switch.
Anyway, I'd definitely recommend that you give it a chance Jane. I think you might enjoy it.
Thanks for all the suggestions, folks!
Wait wait wait. You've only done the first season of Friday Night Lights? Forget the other recommendations, just get to FNL first. Probably the best network television drama ever. Like, seriously, ever. I'm still shocked NBC aired such a brilliant, subtle show.
I breezed through HEMLOCK GROVE, but I can't say I even know why? I don't think it was particularly good, but still, there's something about it.

My current "obsession" is now The Killing. What an interesting series. I am more than halfway through the first season, but still can't figure what to make of it all. I do enjoy it, though.
I am not binge watching this show as I almost always do. That might be due to the fact that it's a lot more emotionally draining than I would have ever imagined. The arc of Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton's characters of grieving parents is truly heartbreaking; a master class in acting.
Anyone else into The Killing, too?
It's wonky but it's the Nat Geo "About Mystery Files" series. The topics are similar to what you might find on the history or learning channels (Richard III's skeleton, the shroud of Turin, Pope Joan, etc.) but as a rule they are much more scholarly presentations and quick watches with a keener eye to scrutiny and a less sensationalistic take on their subjects.
