My teddy bear that I got a few days after I was born.
I have a pin that used to be my great-grandmothers. I wear it on my coat.
My bubby's diamond engagement ring. But non antique- a plaid pink elephant flower container ( not really a vase) that my mum recd on the occasion of my birth & she decorated my nursery with.
Actually I do have a couple of old books that I really love.
One is a first edition of "From the Earth to the Moon" by Jules Verne. Inside the cover the first owner wrote his name, the place and date. It says "Lieutenant Thomas Mayhew Woodruff, Jan 1st, 1874. Fort Gibson, C. N., Indian Territory. That place later became the state of Oklahoma.
I did a little research into Lt. Woodruff and found out that he had stayed in the Army, got married and had a little girl. When he was in his 40's he was killed in the Spanish American War. He is now buried close to me - at Arlington National Cemetary.
My other old book is called "A Theatre For Everybody - The Story of the Old Vic and Sadlers Wells", 1945. On the title page is Sir Ralph Richardson's autograph in ink. In the back of the book, someone has attached 3 old theatre programs from the Old Vic in 1945. Remember that paper, among other things, was rationed so these programs are very small, only 5"x4" and have 4 pages. One is for "Uncle Vanya" which starred Lawrence Olivier, Sybil Thorndike, Ralph Richardson, and Margaret Leighton. It has been autographed on the cover by Lawrence Olivier. Another is for "Arms and the Man" with the same stars and also autographed by Laurence Olivier. The third is for "Peer Gynt", same group, autographed by Ralph Richardson. (Each of these little programs contains a warning that sirens may interrupt the performance if there is an air raid!)
I discovered when going through this little gem that the book contained a few more autographs. Sybil Thorndike, Margaret Leighton, and Michael Warre (another actor in the company) all signed in pencil in the front.
my great grandfathers copy of Admiral Perry's accounts of his trips to Japan. And a blanket that i got when i was born. (i think its in my chest, i'm not sure though...)

My Lionel train set. Dad gave them to me for my very first Christmas (that was 57 years ago, for those who are interested). I still put them up every Christmas and they still run well!
