Zach Levi is an inspired choice. I hope they get some Broadway names in there, especially for the parents. I'm thinking John Bolton and Laura Benanti.

As a fan of Hairspray, my sympathy goes out to him. I think Harvey as Mae would be fun.

I think casting an actress of color as either Kim or Birdie and having a white actor/actress as the opposite role would be another interesting layer/dynamic to the idea of the McAfee’s not being comfortable with the kiss concept and having Birdie living with them. Especially for the time period the show takes place. Just a thought.
Also told they desperately want Nick Jonas for Birdie.

I can't decide if Nick Jonas as Birdie is inspired or lazy.

There would probably need to be some re-writing in that case, given that Albert's mother is mistrustful of Rose because of her Latin heritage.

Lin ain’t playing no Albert Peterson. That’s like casting a black actress to play Tracy Turnblad in HAIRSPRAY. Or a white actress to play Kim in MISS SAIGON.

He'd never do it but I think Bruno Mars would be a fun Conrad. He'd have charisma. Prince Royce or Kane Brown could be fun choices. Or Sam Hunt if they wanted to go "period appropriate."
Say what you want about Annie, but I think this could work very well as a live broadcast, especially during a time when optimism is growing for the future.
I'm very curious to see who will be casted as Miss Hannigan. I saw the 2012 James Lapine revival and Katie Finneran was inexplicably underwhelming.
