2022-2023 Broadway Season

Couldn't find a thread for this so figured I'd start one. So far the confirmed musicals are:

  • Kimberly Akimbo
  • KPOP
  • 1776
  • Some Like It Hot
  • Pal Joey
  • Come Fall In Love - The DDLJ Musical
  • Black Orpheus
  • &Juliet
  • Sing Street
  • The Griswolds' Broadway Vacation

Rumored/possible musicals:

  • Once Upon a One More Time
  • Cabaret (West End transfer?)
  • Back to the Future (West End transfer?)
  • Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical (West End transfer?)
  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK transfer?)
  • A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical (seems likely since they open in Boston June 2022)
  • Black No More
  • Cinderella (ALW)
  • A Chorus Line (in Spanish)
  • The Devil Wears Prada
  • Merrily We Roll Along

Is POTUS considered 2022-2023 season given its opening night is in early May?

ALW's Cinderella is rumored for the Fall '22. There's still speculation that the Banderas' Spanish A Chorus Line will still come over this year for a limited run.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Back to the Future is in a Nederlander house in London, so I could totally see that being the big show that reopens the Palace whenever that happens!

I'm assuming they want it to transfer, but it's off-broadway right now and we have no idea when it will.

Isn’t SING STREET still planning a 22-23 Broadway bow after their Boston tryout since their 2020 transfer was cancelled??

I would love for the London revival of Cabaret to come to NYC, but it would require a theatre to be extensively renovated to accommodate the "in the round" theatre. The theatre Cabaret is in right now is owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group. They own the Hudson, so my best bet is that it will go there.

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

We did just have a Cabaret revival with some pretty major names so unless they can get some stars I don’t see it happening anytime soon

Someone on Facebook said that is was filmed professionally. So, maybe a future release?

Thank you all for the updates! I will continue to add to the list as they come in. At this point the lines between "confirmed" and "rumored/possible" are somewhat blurred since most of the "confirmed" shows at this point have only announced that they are aiming for a 2022-2023 opening with dates TBD.

Gothca. Yeah, I'm like why would a new musical already know it's closing date? What's the point of opening if you know you aren't going to make it.

Do we think Bradley Cooper would be apart of this transferring? Or if Jessie and Eddie would follow the project? Sienna and Emma are both working on projects but Michelle recently dropped out of a project.
