The new musical Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) will begin previews November 1 and officially open on November 20 at the Longacre Theatre.

Anybody know what show Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune might be referring to in today’s newsletter?

“Good afternoon. Big congrats to the Chicago star Christine Sherrill, who made her very stellar Broadway debut Thursday night as a dynamic Donna in Mamma Mia! in New York. We knew her when. Word is, she's not the only Chicago actress who will be starring on Broadway in the latter half of 2025. More on that soon, but let's just say Steppenwolf Theatre might be involved.”

Steppenwolf has already said they aren’t involved in Little Bear Ridge Road. Could it be Carrie Coon in Bug? Bruce Norris’ Downstate? Revival of August: Osage County?

I stopped by the box office at the Samuel J Friedman theatre last Thursday. The employee told me what is the third show for MTC Broadway and it is Tracy Letts’ play Bug. Tentative dates are December through January.

MTC isn’t the type of company to do a “holiday” show. Go to Millburn, New Jersey for that.

Bug, starring Carrie Coon, will begin previews December 17 and open on January 8 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Illusionist Rob Lake will bring his magic show to Broadway, with special guests The Muppets. Previews begin October 28 at the Broadhurst Theatre, opening night is November 6, and it will run until January 18.

Yee honk! A stage adaptation of Schmigadoon! will begin previews April 4 before an April 20 opening at the Nederlander Theatre. It will play a limited run through September 6.

More dates announced by Roundabout:

The Rocky Horror Show begins previews March 26, opens on April 23, and runs through June 21 at Studio 54.

Fallen Angels, starring Kelli O’Hara and Rose Byrne, begins March 27 prior to an April 19 opening at the Todd Haimes Theatre; limited run is through June 7.

A stage adaptation of Dog Day Afternoon, starring Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, begins previews March 10 and opens March 30 at the August Wilson Theatre. It will run until June 28.

Dolly was rumored for the Wilson, then the rumor was they were holding off coming in and that Dog Day was taking the Wilson.
