If Smash closes by Labor Day, I'd love nothing more than Robyn Hurder as Cassie with Tony Yazbeck as Zach and Max Clayton as Bobby.

Who is "Miss Lee"? Does Baayork Lee have a 12 year old granddaughter who is directing? Or are you referring to the legendary Ms. Baayork Lee?
Due to Baayork's age, she usually has a team with her that helps restage any production of ACL now. Has been since the 2017-18 tour and the City Center production.

Similarly, I'd love to see Krysta Rodriguez reprise her exquisite Diana Morales. She has such a long history with the show, I'd love if she could finally open a production.

Well you previously said this was aiming for a Fall short-term revival, and there is no Fall slot available at The Newman (where it originated and the only viable house for it in that building) - it has THE SEAT OF OUR PANTS from October 24 through the end of the year (+ tech and load-in prior to that). And a July-to-September run feels both too soon and too short, especially because it would leave no time for auditions ––– which is the antithesis of the show.
Would love to see it with a director, choreographer, and cast who've never previously been involved with the show. Wishful thinking?????

Sorry, but that is one janky, half-baked, low-budget “tease.”
Do we even know if this is a legitimate account…? Anyone can make an IG account and tape a piece of paper to a pole…

some people on Reddit have said it's not becoming official on Thursday and the IG account is fake. But there will be an announcement around the Tony Awards.
Looks official. And not Broadway at all.
EDIT: Jk.
Yup, it’s real.
kind of… anticlimactic
This is how they’re celebrating 50 years? K.
Presumably there are two A Chorus Line’s happening. This “unofficial” sit specific production and an “official” 50th anniversary celebration.

Why would the rights holders allow two productions in the same city in the same season?

I'll take the train 2 hours to goodspeed for a full production
The “official” celebration will play one night at The Shubert Theatre on a Monday night. So, there likely wouldn’t be any conflict with this site specific production.

They wouldn’t. If there are any plans of a commercial Broadway (or Off) run, they’d have squashed this production before it got a press release.
The only thing that gives me pause is how short the run is. 3 weeks is brief, even for something intimate like this that sounds like it could go the way of Vanya in a loft and extend multiple times/return for a second run. And the lead producer is the director himself.

That's not the production that's been rumored. This sounds dull and lifeless.
Guess no one told them A Chorus Line doesn't take place in an audition room...
The length of the run, the venue, and the low budget vibe of it all kind of makes me think this will be done on the Equity Showcase Code.
Piano only is my biggest turn off. They can't even afford drums or a trumpet? Music and the Mirror is going to sound awful.

It’s a non-equity production
It’s also apparently non-union, which feels… antithetical to the show itself if it’s any kind of official production. This is already getting a bunch of attention on socials - from friends and from theatre outlets - so I’m curious if we get some other kind of anniversary celebration with Equity performers, as jorge and ACL implied.

A production using the Showcase Code is not an Equity production. It’s not a contract, it’s essentially just a waiver that allows Equity members in NYC to do very small-scale productions without benefit of a full contract.
