I was just at TKTS at Lincoln Center and got a ticket for tomorrow's matinee and then jumped on here and read all these recent updates! 🤯 Very excited to see what ends up happening tomorrow (I already saw the show with Jaquel so won't mind at all if tomorrow is a concert again!).

All depends if Jacquel can perform or not.

I’ve never seen or heard the OBC ASL. I wanted to go in blind. Holy ****, I wasn’t expecting this. Michael R Jackson was tremendous. They all sat (for the most part) in folding chairs while Michael R Jackson kept the script open on a music stand.
Having no previous knowledge of the story, not everything made sense. Luckily I also got a rush ticket for tonight (expecting the matinee to cancel). Box office doesn’t know if this will happen again for the evening performance. They’ll know within the hour or so."
Is Edwin Bates also out sick? Would be another reason why Jackson went on and will likely go on again tonight.

With 11 performances left to see A Strange Loop on Broadway, Michael R. Jackson and cast members of the Tony Award winning musical will perform the concert version again at tonight’s performance.

I would honestly be pretty angry if I paid for a ticket to see a Broadway Production and I got a concert instead. While this could be seen as admirable in the sense of “the show must go on” - haven’t we learned over the past 2 years that that saying is pretty terrible? They should be putting their actors health, safety, and well being above all. The show doesn’t HAVE to go on, especially if it’s not up to par with what people are paying for. I wonder if they offered people refunds?
Both performances today were/are sold-out. I'm sure the producers didn't want to lose money having to cancel these shows.

They're taking this on a show-by-show basis. It appears as though Bates is also out sick. So unless Spivey is back tomorrow, Jackson will be Usher again.

I don't think Spivey will do two shows tomorrow. I'm very tempted to buy a matinee ticket. I hope there is a final show on the 15th? I'm coming in Wednesday and got myself a hotel room and seeing a few other shows but the final performance is what I'm looking forward to the most.

we'll eat the dust of the world,

It's also being rumored that Mars has left the show. Time will tell if they're back next week. They have 5 people out; 3 principles and 2 u/s. Reese just came back today. So having Jackson in as Usher and Reese back is keeping this show from canceling.

I still think it is pretty crummy as a producer to charge your audience for a full on broadway production, have them show up, then get a concert version instead. I’m sure a lot of people were not thrilled about this, even if it is a unique experience. As an avid theatre goer, I’d be angry if I had tickets today. And I’ll reiterate - the show must go on is a pretty terrible catch phrase these days. For producers to make their cast go on and do this rather than cancel seems like poor taste. Just my opinion though.
And now L Morgan Lee is out of the show. Zachary A. Myers is on as Thought 1.
So tonight's concert version:
Usher: - Michael R. Jackson
Thought 1 - Zachary A. Myers
Thought 2 - James Jackson, Jr.
Thought 3 - John-Michael Lyles
Thought 4 - John-Andrew Morrison
Thought 5 - JMR
Thought 6 - Kyle
OUT: L Morgan Lee, Spivey, Edwin Bates, Veasey, Hopper, Mars Rucker
