"Concord, who acquired the Rodgers & Hammerstein catalogue in 2017, will also serve in a producing capacity." What's Concord, and how does this relate to the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization?
I am so not looking forward to all the p.c. screeds and "cancelled" articles that shall accompany this film's release, should the film be made.

Posted: 2/12/21 at 5:46pmI could totally see Ashley Park reprising her role in this. Her star keeps getting brighter and brighter. On a hit Netflix show and currently filming a new Tina Fey series... a movie seems like it's not far off.

James Corden is very talented and has given so much to the arts and entertainment industry, especially during Covid.
Would love Ashley Park and Conrad Ricamora to reprise their roles. Excited for a whole new generation to experience this!

So... all of those collections are owned by one company now? I'm surprised, and hadn't heard about this. I remember when those were all separate collections administered by separate offices. That's basically everyone but MTI.

I'm intrigued by the "reimagined" part. I hope they don't lost too much of the stage version. I doubt this will have any connection to the last revival though, so they'll probably start afresh with a whole new cast.

Hahaha. But he could sign on as a producer or executive producer if he isn't cast, just to get his name up there in another movie musical. You know, Corden is one of the producers of his Late Late Show.

I think Rob would be a pretty great choice. Also I think Steven Spielberg could be another solid choice, depending on how his version of West Side Story turns out.

It needs to be an Asian director. Period.
I’m still very surprised the new West Side Story wasn’t directed by a Latinx director.
With these white versus nonwhite stories, we need to see it from the nonwhite perspective. Otherwise, what is the modern twist on this particular East v West white savior plot and how authentic can you actually be in telling the story? Have we not had our eyes opened by Soft Power?
If anyone were to reprise their role from the revival, I can see Ruthie Ann Miles recreating her Tony-winning performance.

So, Concord is the Rogers and Hammerstein organization under a different banner? I see the R&H site calls itself "A Concord Company," which sounds like the R&H is a subsidiary, but what exactly happened here in terms of who owns what?

The families no longer have any say. I believe Concord is the second buy--out after a Dutch concern I never bothered to know the name of. After the first buy-out, some of the members of the two families couldn't quite grasp that their wishes were now dross. As to a new movie version of THE KING AND I, wasn't the cartoon bad enough?
