NEW YORK (AP) -- Anne Bancroft, who won the 1962 best actress
Oscar as the teacher of a young Helen Keller in "The Miracle
Worker" but achieved greater fame as the seductive Mrs. Robinson
in "The Graduate," has died. She was 73.
She died of cancer on Monday at Mount Sinai Hospital, John
Barlow, a spokesman for her husband, Mel Brooks, said Tuesday.

Terrible news...she was too young to go at only 73.
Of course, I loved her in The Graduate, who didn't? She will be missed.

this is truly sad news. The world has lost a wonderful person.
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

Bobby, what was her line about love right before she downed a glass of champagne? "Ain't love grand." Was that it?

Let's not forget her stunning performance as Annie Sullivan in the Miracle worker on stage AND in the movie!

So sad...Just think 3 years ago Mel was on top of the world with his Producers success and Tony wins... life is a mystery.. it's unimaginable to think of Mel without Anne.. too young, indeed.

Nmartin, I found the full quote on IMDB.
Ms. Nora Digger Dinsmoor: She'll only break your heart, it's a fact. And even though I warn you, even though I guarantee you that the girl will only hurt you terribly, you'll still pursue her. Ain't love grand?
