She was utterly wonderful, and so this breaks my heart.
I hope all is ok with her!
I'm sorry to hear this. I loved her performance!

I loved her too. The bonus was she looked and acted just like a friend and colleague of mine.
What about the cast album? Is there a chance Alexandra would be brought back for that?
I hope everything is okay with her, she was absolutely wonderful in the show.
It's possible she just had a prior contractual commitment from before the extension was announced.
That's what I thought, until I saw "personal reasons." http://www.playbill.com/news/article/184957-Alexandra-Socha-Departs-Off-Broadway-Cast-of-Fun-Home-at-the-Public-Theater
Maybe she decided it was just too much seeing kids play in coffins.
I don't have much direct information, but I heard she was let go. Of course "personal reasons," along with "creative differences," is a popular euphemism.
That sucks, she was wonderful in the part. I still think she will be in the cast recording.

I'm not much into gossip, but I have to admit I am curious as to what would transpire that would end up with someone being "let go" this late in an extended run, particularly someone who was giving a very strong performance.
Someone else in the transfer thread said she was let go, which is pretty odd and unexpected. I'm planning to see the show next month and was looking forward to her performance.
If it's true that she was let go, that would be very strange. She gave a really wonderful performance, and "Changing My Major to Joan" was one of the highlights of the whole show for me.
Yeah, I can't imagine she was fired. What was she doing that was wrong? Unless she was a nightmare backstage, or maybe wanted more money for the extension, etc.

That would make me a very sad panda.

However, Emily Skeggs is already doing fantastic work in the role.

She was none of these things. I've worked with Alexandra professionally (and I know her personally), and she is a gracious, generous performer and person. The press release said "personal reasons", so yeah, it's personal, so as much as we all like to gossip, let's respect her privacy?
A lot of people I talked to at the time were very critical of her work in Spring Awakening, but I thought she did a better job than Lea did. I also have fond memories of her in The Dream of the Burning Boy at the Roundabout Underground.
She would have been my motivation for seeing this.
If it hasn't already been recorded, I'd pretty much guarantee that she won't be a part of it.
And no one is prying into her personal life, people are just curious.
FWIW, I thought she was worlds better in SA then Lea, even though Lea was certainly a stronger vocalist. I thought her acting to be wonderful.
Apparently, according to PS Classics on Twitter, Alexandra is in the recording studio today!

I, too, found her worlds better in SA. I really disliked the show when I first saw it but due to friends saying give it another chance I saw it with the replacements I really enjoyed it.

The first picture! Yes! I am sure it had nothing to do with her being nice to work with, it's a personal thing she is going through. Glad to see she is there.
