Full cast announced!
I'm very excited for this. I have a ticket to the first preview in a couple weeks, and I'll be sure to report back. I've never seen the movie, but this cast and creative team look great. Is the movie worth watching? Trying to decide whether I should go into it blind or not.

I'm also very excited for this production and have tickets for the 2nd preview! I loved the movie and am super curious as to how that will translate on stage. I suggest watching it simply because it's a good move (don't know how it will affect your thoughts on the play though!) I think it is still on Netflix.
It looks like a great cast as well!

The movie is beautiful, but if you haven't seen it, wait until after you see the show. ALWAYS best to go into a show as cold as possible.

Love the movie, and am going to the very first public performance. I very much hope it is good, though I have my doubts because the movie is so good.

I ended up watching the movie last night. I agree that it was brilliant and very moving. As I was watching it, I was thinking about where the songs could be, and I think it has potential to really be something great, but we'll see.

You're going to the first preview on the 28th too? Maybe I'll see you there :)

The photos of Samantha Barks say Vanessa Hudgens in Gigi. I hope it's just a case where it really comes to life on stage.

JBroadway, maybe. I'll be the tall kid with white-blonde hair.

Why do people always run to the first preview, rather than give them time to tune the show more? Unless there's some crazy discount or something, or you plan to see it a few times... always seems like you're more likely to see an uneven performance given it is their first time in front of an audience.

I'm leaving for college 2 days after the 1st preview, so I didn't really have a choice.

As long as the first preview audience doesn't rip the poor thing to shreds.
If the world worked in 1964 as it did now FIDDLER and DOLLY never would have made it Broadway!

im going on aug 30 and very excited
i like going to first previews..something very exciting about it, but was booked friday
I do not beleive critics should review previews (they didnt in the old days), because its not really fair to review a work
in progress.
its kind of like going into an artists studio and reviewing their painting when its 3/4 done......

I'm going to an early preview because it will give me a chance to see a show before it's finished and I LOVE that feeling of uncertainty. I am planning to see it again near the end of the run if it doesn't totally suck.

I'm travelling to NY and San Francisco from Australia and have just booked a ticket for this for the Labour Day Weekend. Couldn't pass up seeing Samantha Barks in a World Premiere musical.
Just hope it's not too difficult to get to on AC Transit as the Bart trains aren't operating to Berkeley on that weekend.
I'm also seeing Phantom, Company and Billy Joel so not bad for a few days stay in San Francisco!

Yeah, AC is a miserable experience (thankfully you don't go through China town, but with BART down, it might be worse). Start up a quarter jar (or whatever the equivalent is in Australia) and take an Uber. It will be worth it.

AC Transit's transbay buses tend to be a better experience than the local ones. Good luck! (I used to live in Alameda and worked in downtown SF.)
Yeah, you may want to lean toward Uber and Lyft.

Lizzie, but with BART down that weekend, it means that all those people who usually take BART to get home will be on the busses. And I know it's Labor Day weekend, but of course a lot of people still work around that time in the city.

Haha, it's funny to see people on this board discuss Bay Area public transit. It's usually such a NY-centric board. I feel like 2 of my worlds are colliding.

That's a good point! I moved to NYC in 2011 so my immediate recall is fading. ![]()

You have me worried now! I'm going to the Sunday 7pm performance. I can handle it being crowded, just as long as it's not dangerous for me to be travelling on my own on a Sunday night?

This exactly Im doing exactly the same thing. Also if I had never gone to the first preview of Bridges of Madison County, I never would have heard He Forgave Me, since they cut it out after that performance. I like they idea of getting to see and hear their whole vision before they start cutting things out of it.

You should be completely fine! I live in the East Bay and have never had any problems regarding safety, plus it's a Sunday, so transport shouldn't be too terrible on the buses....I feel like people just stay at home when the Bart is down.

An alternative but less direct route would be to take the ferry and then take the Bart the rest of the way.

OK, thanks, I will look into the ferry option as well. Would that be a ferry to Oakland and then BART from there?
Apologies for getting off topic ??
