didn't think it would be open much longer. it's grosses have been slumping ever since Foster left.
I'll make sure to see it before it closes. It's been on my list.
A great run for a wonderful production! I'm going to try and see it again before it closes.

Strange it's closing in Auguest, would have thought they'd play out until September but I guess the forecast wasn't looking good so they decided to bring the closing forward a month. It's had a good run and should have a decent life on tour. Wonder what's next for the Sondheim as Roundabout have nothing planned for it unless they want to move either Cyrano or Edwin Drood there.
Into the Woods transfer??

Isn't that going to the Hirschfeld or is that just a rumour? the Sondheim has been used twice for commercial productions so it wouldn't surprise me if it hired out until Roundabout has a show ready for the Sondheim.
Would be pretty cool for Into The Woods to play the Stephen Sondheim!
I hate this time of the year when shows start dropping like flies! It had a good run though at least. One of the best revivals in a while.

As far as I've heard "Into the Woods" is all but set. They're just being smart and making sure this cast both gels and is available for a transfer. They also want to wait for a transfer announcement just so it remains a "hot buzz ticket" and not a "eh, I'll wait." Plus Donna DOES have that awful looking tv series she needs to wait for it to be canceled.
Glad I got tickets for one of the last performances. I've been really looking forward to seeing it.
go see it!! the end of the 1st act tap number blows the roof off the building!

Sad to see the show go, but it had a great run. I hope that whatever replaces it will be a great production.
It's a shame, really; the show was spectacular and Stephanie was pure brilliance (and I can only imagine how great Sutton was)! I would go see its final performance as a birhday present for myself if I were in NY...
A great production of a show I don't like much. A good healthy, run, but I agree it's time.

So Into the Woods could transfer and still be an outdoor production?
I wonder if it's closing in August rather than later so that performers can transition into the national tour, which starts in October.
I also imagine they will use this set for the tour. It is not all THAT complicated, and it will save money.
I agree with ACL2006, when Sutton Foster left, the sales went down, so I don't think anyone really expected it to be open much longer.

Why does it have to be right after my birthday? So sad. I love this show so much. Well I have had a De-Lovely Anything Goes filled year. Bon Voyage!
Any idea if it has recouped?
Roundabout is not-for-profit, which means there is no investment or capitalization, which means it cannot recoup. The term is meaningless for this or any Roundabout (or MTC or Lincoln Center) production.
But wasn't this a commercial production? Despite the subscriber base?
