While I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would, the two leads where as dull as six day old dish water. In saying that I hope a second season is done.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Key’s song was hard to listen to. When the doctor’s mother was in the car questioning Strong’s love for him I thought for sure she was going to break into a a Climb Every Mountain moment.
I hadn't been following this thread since I wanted to watch the show blind. I'm surprised so many folks didn't like it. I thought it was a loving and smart parody of golden age musicals. Also, as someone who is having trouble in my own marriage, I found the main plot fairly smart and cathartic.
I wish we got more from the characters and that everything had a longer arc. It all did feel a little one and done... but it was what it was. I'd love a second season but also it doesn't feel terribly necessary.
After the first episode, I had a laundry list of things I didn’t like about the show. Begrudgingly, at the prompting of a good friend, I binged the remaining 5 episodes last night and I’m so glad I did. It ended up charming me and surpassing all my expectations.
Was it great? No…but it struck a nice chord that I needed played. So glad I stuck with it.
Marc Bonanni of Broadway by Ghostlight wraps up his ''Schmigadoon!'' series (for now), breaking down the musical references and Easter eggs in the finale.
The sheet music book will be released by Hal Leonard (probably later this fall). Also...
Here are some of Cinco Paul's FAQ that he did on Twitter...
Q: What year is it in the town? A: This is the answer I gave Barry--"whatever year we need it to be." The baseline is c. 1918, Music Man's year. But it's a magical town!
Q: What's with the Law & Order font? A: It just might be a little nod to all the musical theater folks who've worked on that show over the years...
Q: Why was Jane Krakowski only in 1 episode? She was credited in all 6! A: Due to scheduling (made worse by the pandemic) we could only get Jane for a few days, sadly. But I wanted the credits to feel like an old MGM movie, so we credited all of our stars in every episode.
Q: Why were there only 6 episodes? I wanted more! A: The original plan was actually for 8, but for various reasons we had to squeeze that down to 6. Painful, but had to do it. I'm happy with where we landed, but I'm also happy some of you wanted more!
Q: Where did Danny go after "You Done Tamed Me"? He disappeared! A: Originally he and his shady friend were looking for knives so they could rob Josh and get the $ Danny thought he needed. It was a whole thing. But a casualty of the move from 8 to 6 eps.
Q: Will there be a second season? A: My concept for the show has always involved more than one season. But that's all I can say for now...
There was a podcast where Cinco also mentions that the end cuts off where we are under the ASSUMPTION it is a happy ending and they are heading to walk across the bridge... BUT it cuts off before they actually do... and that could lead into a potential second season.
NameGreg said: "Also, I don’t know if others thought so, but I really disliked that Do Re Mi parody. The other parodies are still different enough musically from the original numbers, but this was pretty much just the same exact music and the only joke was just putting risqué words into a famous song."
Risqué words??? I thought the song was hilarious. I think that song provided more information than all the sex education class they taught guys in high school!
Overall, my wife and I loved the show after just finishing the 6 shows. The songs were very enjoyable (Corn Puddin' was our favorite), leaving us with a smile after every song. The cast performances were top notch, and I'm sure we'll watch parts of it again before our Apple+ subscription expires.
Seeing musicals on the streaming services has been wonderful during the pandemic, especially living on the Oregon Coast (which is about as far as you can be from Broadway). Next up is Everybody's Talking About Jamie, and then Diana, and then West Side Story in the movie theater.
I finally gave the show a chance yesterday and ended up binging the whole season. Oh man, did I sleep on this.
Schmigadoon is absolute musical theatre euphoria. It's a completely unashamed love-letter to Golden-Age musicals, far too genuine to ever resort to ridicule or mockery. The jokes are hilarious, the cast all does a great job, the songs are all weapons-grade ear worms.
Of note from the article: "Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page will also join the fun in the new season, which will find Josh (Key) and Melissa (Strong) in Schmicago, the world of 60’s and 70’s musicals."
It doesn't mention when season two is set to film, but I wonder if this contributed to Ann Harada not continuing with Into the Woods.
On Facebook, Harada said this is why she didn’t transfer with “Woods”.
And I love that (hopefully) each new season will be in a new “genre” of musical. Maybe season 3 could take place in the east village in the 90s. Schmrent.
