JSquared2 said: "Is there anyone who is a CSC member and can report back on how sales are going? Is this going to be an impossible ticket?"

Re-upping this question. I only have one free slot to see this on Friday 24 October, and am wondering what my chances are going to be of getting a ticket when they go on sale to the general public.

There are tickets available at all price levels for the 24th right now (I did FlexPass to get early access and get tickets). It also looks like they are only releasing some seats for the pre-sale. Going from day to day, a lot of the same seats are the only ones available. I'll see if I can send you an image of the seating available...

In less than 90 minutes general on-sale begins.  The only way I can see this is if I swap out another show from my planned schedule. Do I swap this for Operation Mincemeat or Oedipus? Or do I skip this?  I'm leaning towards swapping Oedipus as I'm a bigger musical fan than I am play fan, and as both are downers this might be less of a downer show?

I looked at the Oedipus seating chart & it is not well sold at this time.  But closer it could become popular & then I might be able to sell my ticker.  I doubt I'd sell my OM ticket.

Edit: I did it. I bought for the same night as I have a ticket for Oedipus.   I'll see how early reports are for both, and decide which I'll see based upon those.

I hope this is a homerun for Ariana DeBose.  I know people like to dog-pile on her, but I for one find her to be very talented.  I'm rooting for her.

She's wonderful, just over-exposed for a while. Can't wait to see this, what a fantastic cast.

I was relieved I was able to get an accessible seat for $66. Sometimes these premium offerings by CSC can charge a mint for all the seats, and I remember being in the regular seats for Classics Remixed benefit a few years back and I was suffering

Her feature film credits may be largely questionable*, but that's likely due to Hollywood not really knowing what to do with her. In fact, I remember hearing Susan Egan talk about how after wrapping up the 1991-92 national tour of Bye Bye Birdie with Tommy Tune, she debated whether she should move to New York or Los Angeles. Tune encouraged her to do the former because people in Los Angeles can never know what to do with you whereas people in New York will always know exactly what to do with you. So she started auditioning for incoming revivals of Carousel, Grease, and My Fair Lady, before Beauty & the Beast came along.

I've mentioned elsewhere before that I spoke with DeBose over the phone once for BroadwayWorld, she was great to talk to. I even got to see her make a surprise appearance at Rachel Bay Jones' concert in my area two years ago, which was quite a highlight. I also really liked most of her Tony hosting stints. I too hope this turns out well for her.

*Brian Rowe of The Awards Contender even listed her at #3 on a recent video available exclusively on Patreon on his Top 10 Worst Acting Filmographies Following an Oscar Win.

Easy experience getting under-$100 tickets for two of the “treasured flop” musicals of the fall (this and Sweet Smell of Success). Excited to see both for the first time.

DeBose in this role feels a bit like casting LuPone in the role--but after she became known for Evita.  Do we know which of these other names is playing Dominique?  A pretty large role not to have someone explicitly attached to.

I *love* The Baker's Wife.  I heard mixed things about this same production in London, but of course I wish I could see this.  That said, despite my love for it and the score, I do think the first recording, with four of the original leads, basically captured all the truly great music in the show.  While I get that the townspeople and their various issues are important to the piece, their material (while not bad) is nowhere at the same level, and I'm never too interested in them...  I wonder if casting them with so many stacked names might make a difference.

(But don't get me started about why Schwartz is wrong to believe Endless Delights should continue to be cut...  It didn't play well 50 years back when audiences couldn't accept seeing Genevieve actually enjoying sex with Dominique but maybe we've gotten past that?  At any rate, the character is almost completely gone from Act II--the show has some hard to get past structural problems--and giving her another number there does help with this...)

I’m desperately hoping to see this when I get to NY on January 2, which would require a three-week extension. Does anyone know if CSC generally builds extensions into their schedule and contracts? I have to assume with this cast an extension through the holidays is a possibility, and their next show (Marcel on the Train) is listed as February-March.

CSC’s Assassins got a three week extension so it’s possible.

Per the audition notice, the maximum possible extension is only one week (until 12/21).

For those who disliked the London production, the director Gordon Greenberg has surrounded himself with an entirely different production team. The Menier is also a very different space than Classic Stage.

That production had Matt Cole (choreography), Paul Farnsworth (scenic & costume design), and Paul Anderson (lighting design). This production has Stephanie Klemons (Choreography), Charlie Alterman (Music Direction), Jason Sherwood (Set Design), Catherine Zuber (Costume Design), Bradley King (Lighting Design), and Jason Crystal (Sound Design).

Baker's Wife closes the 14th of December.  They have a maximum extension for only one week beyond the current announced dates.  December 21st will the any final closing date with extension.  It won't be running in January.

This has good sales so far.  All the $66 "cheap seats" appear already gone for the run.

During the infamous original run of The Baker's Wife, as in the movie, Genevieve and Dominique (played by Patti LuPone and Kurt Peterson) were roughly the same age with Aimable cast a bit over ten years older.  Of course a 40ish Aimable would no longer really read to audiences as an older man, and the casting was similar, age wise, for the late 80s Trevor Nunn production.  But director Gordon Greenfield, starting with his 2005 Paper Mill production followed by the recent Menier and now this always seems to cast a Genevieve who is noticeably younger than Aimable but *also* noticeably older than Dominique.  I was wondering if this also was in the suggested character ages of the current revised script?  Maybe not a big deal, but it does change the dynamics a bit I think--making it a bit more about Genevieve trying to hold on to her youth, or something, for maybe the last time rather than actually seeing a chance to be with someone her own age, something she never got to experience by marrying the baker so young.  An older Genevieve doesn't give the impression that her marriage to Aimable is the first time she's been with a man, which is implied in the film and the original book...
