So last night I saw the Indiana Symphony Orchestra's concert version of Guys and Dolls. Ashley and Megan played the roles of Sarah Brown and Adelaide respectively. And I thought both were absolutley wonderful. Ashley has an absolutely gorgeous voice and she just glowed as Sarah. And Megan was hilarious as Adelaide. So now I really want both to be cast in the revival. What does everyone else think of this? And did anyone see this also?
I think it would be wonderful with Oliver, Ashley Brown, Megan Lawrence and Cheyenne Jackson. But thats just me. Unfortunately Ashley Brown is committed to the MP tour and I don't think she'd back out on the Disney company.
If Ashley dares to back out on Disney, they will have her killed.
You don't f*#k with Disney.

I think they're going for bigger names.
As great as Megan Lawrence is, I doubt they would cast her in such a plum role.

Faith Prince wasn't a big name when they cast her.
Shoot! I forgot Brown was committed to the tour. Now I'm sad because I thought she was the strongest of the cast. She has an incredible voice. But I love the idea of Cheyenne as Sky

If we can't have Megan Mullally, I'd be just as thrilled for Megan Lawrence :)
Ashley is a fantastic actress, therefore it's no wonder Disney is keeping her under contract for as long as possible. She can play a youthful Disney princess to perfection then switch to a mature, well-versed woman without missing a beat.
Ashley Brown is my favorite actress on Broadway, besides la LuPone

The 1992 revival was a different time: the shows werent going for big names at all. People just trusted that Broadway performers were excellent and worth seeing. No one had heard of Faith Prince, or any of the rest of the cast for that matter.
With this revival, they are obviously going for bigger names. Megan Mullaly would be brilliant; Megan Lawrence would just not do.
Dear Patrick Wilson,
Please be Sky.
Thank You

megan lawrence would be a knockout adelaide in my opinion. She is so hilarious. If it weren't for Beth Leavel in my opinion Megan would have won the tony for Pajama Game.

I was also there on Friday and agree with your assessment. I felt that this role really suited Ashley Brown, much more so than Mary Poppins. She read very age appropriate for the role of Sarah. She knocked it out of the park with that soprano of hers and really got the chance to shine.
Megan was hysterical as Adelaide and had great chemistry with Gary Beach.
The Indy Symphony did a great job with this staged reading, including fully costumed actors and some minimal set pieces.
Oliver Platt will be starring in Guys and Dolls.

If we're going for names:
Anne Hathaway as Sarah
Jane Krakowski as Adelaide (she's not a HUGE name aside from with the 30 Rock/Ally McBeal fans, but I'd kill to see her reprise this role)
Eric McCormack as Nathan
Neil Patrick Harris as Sky (although I doubt this would happen while HIMYM is still in production)
Anne Hathoway would be amazing as Sarah, but I don't know if she would do it because judging from the "Rachel Getting Married" reviews, around that time she'll just have or will be about to possibly win an Oscar, so she may not want to be in a Show when that is happening

Eric McCormack as Nathan? NEIL PATRICK HARRIS AS SKY?
I mean, I love me some NPH, but come on now.
Adelaide requires sex appeal and therefore it can't be Megan Lawrence. She's a good comedian but hardly believable as a dance hall showgirl.

Sky: Harry Connick Jr. all the way
Sarah: Anne Hathaway
Adelaide: Debra Messing

Maybe he was thinking they were putting on Gays & Dolls.
Anne Hathaway won't be available.
She just signed on to play the White Queen in Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND adaptation.

Okay, dream cast would be:
Sky: Cheyenne Jackson
Nathan: John C. Reilly
Sarah: Anne Hathaway
Adelaide: Kerry Butler (ANYONE?)
Though she won't be available either (due to commitments to both THE LITTLE MERMAID and her own show at Second Stage,) I'd love to see Sherie Rene Scott take a crack at Adelaide.

I'd love to see Megan Mullalay..do you think she's too old?
