The original first performance was Feb 4. That was canceled. Then the rescheduled date of Feb 5 was canceled. Is this a sign that there are troubles with the show or is the weather really to blame? I'm pumped to see it because I'll watch Rebecca Naomi Jones in anything but I'm going in with lower expectations.
Anyone who's going tonight please report back.

I'm looking forward to reports, too. I'm also with you as very interested in Rebecca Naomi Jones. Hope she gets a good role and some great material soon.
I remember seeing this play at the Goodman in Chicago (featuring a friend of Broadwayboobs!) and really enjoying it. Wacky, weird, funny and chilling. I thought it was kind of fun and fascinating.
So it's not a musical just using a lot of musical theatre names?
I know! I totally got excited for the Sister Wife Musical of the Century!

Can all of you please Google this play or Chuck Mee before you come here and act like you know what you're talking about? If you're a theater fan, you should know who Chuck Mee is.
I am a "theater fan" and I had not heard the name Chuck Mee before. Love these generalizations that get tossed around.
And to help out those who also don't know Chuck Mee here is a link.

This is a wonderful play, and Charles Mee is a national treasure.
You can also read (and use!) his works here:

Who was acting like that?

RippedMan: So it's not a musical just using a lot of musical theatre names?
Yeah, it's a question? Calm the f--- down. I know it's not a musical. Just making a comment. Wasn't sure if maybe it was a "play with music" kind of thing. Sometime it's fun to discuss things instead of just Googling them and finding the answer. Lordy.

How is that acting like you know what you're talking about? Saying, "This is the staged musical of the HBO series starring Jim Parsons, Debra Monk, Heidi Klum and Alicia Keys with a score by Kanye West and directed and choreographed by Tommy Tune" would be acting like you know what you're talking about.
Ok? Do you feel better about yourself? Cool. Anyway, I'm seeing it tonight.

Chuck Mee, while an interesting and innovative playwright & all-around great guy, is hardly a name that's known far and wide. Unlike other playwrights of his generation, he's not had much of a commercial career, his works are experimental in nature (which, like it or not, limits their audience), and he took a twenty-five year hiatus from playwrighting. I think it's great that more people will be exposed to his work through his residency at Signature, but it's hardly a surprise that he's not as known as, say, a Tony Kushner, Neil Simon, or August Wilson.
I'm looking forward to seeing BIG LOVE over the weekend.

Mister Matt,
I don't know who you are, but I know that I love your avatar!
No, it's not a musical ... although there's singing and dancing and carrying on .... the cast is amazing: Bobby Steggert has a terrific solo number, and the physical demands of the piece leaves you wondering if the three couples can survive 8 performances a week! Massage therapy needed!
This was the first preview, and it appeared to run smoothly. I don't want to say much more, because anyone interested should simply experience it.
So I guess I'm not a 'theatre fan' since i had NO idea who Charles Mee was before seeing this show or posting . Maybe I should stop going to theatre all together and stop supporting all these shows I know nothing about before seeing them.
I saw the performance last night and LOVED it! Had no idea there was music in it and loved, loved, loved that there was! The entire cast was wonderful and like TimesSquareRegular said - they all deserve massage therapy after every performance! It's a little wacky at times but all in all bravo to ALL involved!!!!!!
I don't know who you are, but I know that I love your avatar!
LOL That's my dog, Betty! She's the real celebrity in the family.
Based on these comments, I picked up tickets for Sunday. I always like going to the Signature Center anyway.
For those who were there last night, what was the running time? Through a friend I got a ticket for Saturday night, but I'm seeing the late show of Hedwig and wondering if I'll be cutting it too close.

The website says it runs 90 minutes, do-able if you are a fast walker
BTW if you do walk, walk up 43rd, after either 8th or 9th Ave, less people in your way in case you have to plow thru in a hurry. 42nd St has vendors and people lingering about, 44th has restaurants and Theaters letting out, but not sure if any are ending at that time though, so it may be safe. : )
There is a crosstown bus but I have found walking quicker but if traffic is light and there is a bus there it may work for you :)

It looks like the shows start at 7:30pm so you'll be more than fine.
