I dunno, though..I almost think it needs a *spolier* label. I mean, they give away so many great moments. Would that ruin the wonder for people who have never seen it?
I guess the most important thing is that it MAKES people want to see it.
i liked it! i'm seeing it on saturday, but this scared me a little because my onstage seats are closer towards upstage than downstage. i hope i'm still able to see stuff, not just backs
Ok I have listened to the CD, didn't think I was going to like it, and I am in love with it. Now I saw the video, and GOD I wanna be in NYC right now. What a great Christmas present it would be to get a ticket to NYC right now, but that isn't going to happen. Man this show looks great. You say there are a lot of spoiners given away, from the video I couldn't tell. I just know the music, I haven't had a chance to read the synopsis in the CD or anything, I have just gone by what I have heard and watched. Now I k now what all of you are talking about. What great lighting effects, and wonderful costumes. Wow something new and wonderful in Broadway history right here. Like REnt changed the history of Broadway with a new type of musical, I think Spring Awakening will do the same thing.
John is gonna break his foot in I Don't Do Sadness :)
I'm betting I'm gonna watch this 20 times before Christmas. I love bww.com for making these previews!
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott
Oh, Steven, it's improved a LOT since off-Broadway. The changes they made in Broadway previews alone made a huge difference. The size of the space takes some getting used to, but it's a small sacrifice.
The music sounds too teenyboppy for my taste. Not to say that I'll never see it (never say never), but it doesn't incite my interest. The set and costumes look great, though.

I was very interested in sampling this, given the critical acclaim. After viewing the video a few times, I was left with the impression that it is probably a very engaging show, but disappointed by the "pieces" of music I heard. I don't know if I'd call it bubble-gum, and surely wouldn't call it folk-rock, but it sounded awfully ordinary. A little like John Mayer (whom I find awfully ordinary to start with) but "popularized" if that's not redundant. I liked the spare staging for the slice of a period of life material, and I've no doubt the cast is great from everything I've read, but 25th Annual Spelling Bee had that that plus interesting music. Not fair to judge from excerpts, but there's my impression from this video.
