Just to clarify- I personally love Audra...and I love Babs too although she's a major primadonna.

The story is that Audra was a huge Streisand fan, and when she was doing Carousel, the company manager got her and Sally Murphy tickets to see her at MSG. they went back to meet Barbara, and then Barbara saw Carousel a few nights later.
When Audra was doing Master Class, Babs came to see Zoe Caldwell, who was playing Maria Callas. Audra heard at intermission, and, sensing that Babs didn't like her, asked the stage manager to sneak her out of the theatre as fast as possible, so she wouldn't have to see Streisand. She bumped into Streisand talking to Zoe in the hallway, and Barbara ignored her. Zoe told Audra to wait outside her dressing room while she talked to Barbara. After Barbara left, Zoe called Audra in to her dresssing room and said "You're right. Barbara Streisand doesn't like you."

Babs sounds like a looney bird.

Babs is dumb. What has Audra ever done to her?

That's just ridiculous. So she just "doesn't like her" with no legitimate reason? Cankerous ole' bird.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. The real question is: Why would anyone bother to like That Streisand Woman?

I love Audra, I love Barbra. I find it hard to believe that Barbra could not recognize Audra's immense talent. But if she can't, it's her loss.

Gossip, gossip, gossip.
Stories are thrown around all the time. I have no clue as to if there is even an once of truth to this story, but I really don't care. I doubt very highly that she hates Audra, but ignoring her (two very different things) is something characteristic of Streisand.
I think the only people that Barbra actually hates are politicians.
EDIT TO ADD:
Audra must not have been affected too much because she did that little Streisand tribute in the middle of the song "Down With Love" in 1998 at the "My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies". This "incident" happened (according to one of the posts above) around the time she was in Carousel in 1994-1995. She has also recorded a few Streisand known songs on her albums. So this "haterd" could not have been deep enough for Audra to lose respect for Streisand.
Damn I work my ass of to do some good PR for Barbra :)

Because Audra/Patti stole Barbra/Judy's "Happy" material.

I think people throw the word "hate" around a bit too easily.

I find all of this hard to believe. As for Streisand being jealous of Audra - why? Are they after the same roles? Do their albums compete for #1 on the charts? Audra isn't exactly burning up the airwaves or the charts with her cds aimed at a very small sample of the cd buying population. Streisand has had a career that no one has ever had and one that we will never see the likes of again. A totally once in a lifetime career. Is she past her prime - of course, just like every other incredible talent before her. And one day, Audra will also be past her prime. But as for the supposed back stage story with Zoe Caldwell, just sounds like gossip and rumour.

while she is an immense talent, she is definitely a premier bitch. i had to get with her ass in high school when i was at the kennedy center honors. she bumped me on the aisle i said "excuse me, im sorry", knowing she was in the wrong, but she is streisand after all. "yes, excuse you", she actually said to me. i said, "no actually, excuse you sweetie". she just looked at me, smiled, and her and brolin got the hell outta dodge. i will probably never work ANYWHERE......EVER.

I worked with Barbra in 2000 for her "Timeless" concerts in LA and NYC, I was in her choir. All during rehearsals and the performances, she couldn't have been more kind, gracious and professional.
The person who started this thread saying that Barbra hates Audra....did Barbra tell you this, did you hear it from a friend of a friend, who knows her assistant, who's roommate used to to work with, etc, etc........... See where I'm going with this?
Last summer Barbra and Audra performed at The Hollywood Bowl for the Sondheim Birthday Celebration Concert. I was fortunate enough to have been in the 3rd row for this concert. At the end of the show, after curtain calls, Barbra walked up to several people still on stage and shook their hands, hugged them..........Audra included. At the Hollywood Bowl there is no curtain, so when the show is over the actors, musicians, etc...hang out and clear the stage at their own free will. I clearly remember when Barbra approached Audra and they greeted one another. I was thrilled seeing my of my all time favorites talking to one another. Had they met before, that I don't know???
That's the power of the written word. Anyone can post on this board virtually anything and people will think that it's fact. Just because someone writes it or says it, doesn't make it true. And, for someone to say that Barbra hates Audra because she sang her stuff is beyond absurd. That doesn't make sense. And, if it doesn't make sense, then it's not true!

Didn't Babs promise to move out of the country if Bush won the election?

Dear LuvLiza...
Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. It ticks me off to no end when people like to cause trouble on the boards and then all of a sudden, a misquote, a misunderstanding and an out & out lie, becomes true.
Like the gal who posted that Barbra should have said excuse me when she bumped into her. There could have been a dozen reasons why Barbra didn't know that she was the one who did the bumping and said "Excuse Me." Maybe she was talking to her hubby, maybe she wasn't paying attention, maybe she dropped her program, etc..
I've done it before, we all have. When you bump into someone...someone has to go first in order for there to be a bump. It was an accident. She didn't do it on purpose.

Barbra said that she couldn't imagine living in this country if Bush was elected. She never said that she was going to move.
Again, people just love to twist things. Or, in the issue of fairness, many times, by the time people hear stuff/gossip, it gets totally twisted.
