Let’s let Alex Timbers direct this!! Disney screwed themselves by firing him off Frozen.

In this version Belle locks up the beast!

The Paper Mill cast has been announced. Gavin Lee is indeed Lumiere. Nice to see some Anastasia actors here too. Molly Rushing confirmed on Instagram that she is the Belle understudy.

I think Beetlejuice is proof positive he's best suited for less commercial offerings.
stephen mark lukas is gonna be a dreamy Gaston!
I need to say that the original Broadway production was the only production to get the look of the Beast correct. It's not Beauty and the Goat, or Ram, or Deer
I don't think the Papermill production is any indication of how the revival will look. I'd think they'd get a better production team, etc.

I have heard great things about the Papermill production. I am sorry that I am not able to see it.

I hope so! The two candles on each hand for Lumiere looks even more cumbersome than the original design.
I'd think we'd either get a faithful revival of the original, or they'd go a totally different route and do like John Tartaglia version with actual puppets.

I think Tom Schumacher said the original team is working on the BATB revival (if it happens). Which would be: https://www.ibdb.com/broadway-production/beauty-and-the-beast-4602
Oh cool! Would actually love to see the original design.
I doubt we’ll ever see the original design again but I do hope they come up with something equally opulent even if they are on a budget this time around. Even when they downsized from the Palace to the Lunt, what was on Broadway was still far more elaborate than the bare bones third national tour and the later redesigned NETWorks national tour which was still directed and designed by the same team.

I'M SCREAMING!! However, there have been some good ones regionally, Papermill already looks great, so I'd say it's very rarely done right. The Low Budget Beast Tumblr is a thing for a reason I'm afraid...

The NETWorks tour was one of the ugliest and tackiest things I have ever seen on stage. The set looked like a three year old's coloring book was inflated and thrown on a stage.

According to the revival announcement from last year, this isn't the same thing they're referring to. All those revival announcements said in some form, "return to the New York stage" and that was last spring. The reports of the international production(s) didn't come until last fall. And frankly it'd be pretty dumb business move to NOT revive it in NYC at all, this is gonna be one of a few things that gets us back on our feet. That said...how is is the UK is already planning shows this coming late winter into spring, but Broadway can't seem to get itself together? Especially after Fauci's interview with Garner just yesterday...
This is defientely the Broadway revival. It all lines up with the creative team and timeline. I can't wait to hear more. I actually don't like the artwork. It looks like a high school poster. The concept isn't bad, but I hope they make it more mature.

Actually, from day 1 Thomas Schumacher said that they were preparing a Beauty and the Beast revival but that he wasn't going to say "where" it would happen. The original post (despite the 'coming to Broadway' in the headline, says so as well. People just heard 'revival' and assumed it was NYC.
There is no way Disney Theatrical is preparing two different productions of the exactly same musical with the exact same production team.
^But NYT recently say it's transferring to Broadway as well (with the Frozen closing announcement)? And I'm pretty sure that they said the creative team will be in the NY revival as well.
MTI has announced upcoming licensing restrictions for BATB beginning in 2025. Which could mean a new Broadway production and/or first-class tour could finally be on the way as early as spring 2025.
Full-Length Restrictions: Any requests for performances taking place after December 31, 2024 will be denied.
Broadway Junior Restrictions for Camps, Academies, Community Theaters, After-School Programs, High Schools, etc.: Any requests for performances taking place after March 31, 2025 will be denied. There are NO LICENSING RESTRICTIONS for Accredited K-9 Schools that typically pay a flat fee to perform a Broadway Junior musical, as long as the musical is performed on school grounds with an all-student cast.
Man, I hope they spend the money and recreate the original production.
Exciting news but I'm concerned they're going to cheap out on us and give us a "tour ready" production. Fingers crossed that that is not the case!
