I think it would be cool to see Betsy Wolfe and Andrew Samonsky as Barbra and Adam https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Its-Almost-Showtime-BEETLEJUICE-Musical-Will-Get-Developmental-Lab-This-Fall-20170628

Andrew Samonsky is not a name you hear very often on this board :)
I'm curious about this, would love to hear a few sample songs before i get too excited about the show though.

Perfect for Timbers. But not sure this is a show that needs to be musicalized. Sure, if was at Universal Studios, I'd be curious to see it. But to pay $150+ to see it? Naw.

Without the special effects it loses most of its charm and the characters don't really have anything of substance to sing about without getting very morbid.
If it makes it to Broadway, I think it would be an Addams Family. Some initial charm which quickly wears off.

You don't even hear Andrew Samonsky's name very often at Andrew Samonsky's house! Zzzzzzzzzz.

I have heard raves from his Bridges tour. ^
As for Addams Family comparison, it could go the way of Sweeney Todd and actually be good? We'll see when and if it is ready for audiences.

Yes, Bettlejuice is definitely the next Sweeney Todd ![]()

Beetlejuice is campy comedy. Which I love. But again, I don't see it being a big sell for tourists. At least not in NYC.

I think you vastly under estimate the popularity of this film, and personally I think this story has plenty of room to sing.

I saw Andrew in Hunchback at Paper Mill, and I was impressed by him. The voice and swagger were perfect for the character. Interesting that he's doing Beetlejuice.

Sorry if I mislead you to believe he was. It was just an idea I came up with. Unless you know more than me as he actually is doing this... It's in the realm of possibility since he has worked with Timbers before.

If the material isn't clicking in the lab, and it's not a mismatch of talent or creative team with writing (i.e., the writing just sucks), consult darquegk from this forum. In addition to being a reviewer for BWW's Pittsburgh section, he is a successful playwright, composer, and lyricist of original material whose newest work, Tink!, premiered last July at the New York Musical Festival. He has a Beetlejuice musical in his trunk, and I promise you it would work equally well, if not more so, than what you have.

It kind of upset me to not read Christopher Fitzgerald. Nothing against Alex, but I hope he’s just a filler for Chris. https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Kerry-Butler-Danny-Pudi-Alex-Brightman-and-the-Cast-of-BEETLEJUICE-Workshop-Share-Behind-the-Scenes-Photos-20171001

Of all the musicalized movies out there, this seems the most interesting. Could be goulish fun.

I was pointed out that the community had a little beetlejuice Easter egg, which is brilliant that they included Dannyx

Let me translate:
The TV show "Community" which Danny Pudi was in had a running gag where a character randomly said "Beetlejuice" once in three different episodes and after the third calling, Beetlejuice was shown in the background of the shot.

Christopher Fitzgerald was Beetlejuice in the very first 48 hour reading but hasn't been involved since.
Alex Brightman has now done both the two week reading and the four week lab. It's safe to assume the plan is for him to remain involved going forward.

I know for a fact that Mitch Jarvis was pursuing the part.

Does anyone know what the schedule for Mean Girls is currently? I'm surprised Kerry Butler had time to do this, while being close to leaving for Washington. Maybe I'm not fully understanding what the time commitments are on both.

Leslie Kritzer played Delia Deetz (the O'Hara role) in last year's reading and Jessica Phillips played the role in this workshop. I assume Kritzer's commitment to The Honeymooners prevented her from doing it this time.
