I hope that the producers learn their lesson from this situation. It now seems obvious that there should actually be 4 Billys in the show at any one time and these shouldn't include previous postholders. The show has already made them a truckload of money so financially they can certainly afford another and at the end of the day this would give a golden opportunity to another talented young performer. Where would the producers and the show be if they didn't have somebody with the drive, professionalism and simple good manners of James Lomas to step into the breach. The young people in the show are entitled to a quality of life away from the stage - time that they spend with their family and friends with no Billy involvement. On a simple level this would allow them to give the 200% they do without it impacting on their wellbeing. I'm sorry to say that James is ill-advised - or more likely has allowed his heart to rule his head in going back. During his run he showed an abundance of talent and charisma every time he played the role but no actor can carry on playing a role which is too young for them without the cracks starting to show. This isn't the fault of the actor of course but of the producers who put them there. Some of these cracks have been raised by others on this board (very gently) and it is only right they should. James has the sheer abundance of talent to move on successfully to other shows and returning to Billy may harm his chances of doing this. Needless to say I hope he finds further success and more importantly happiness in his return visit - on meeting he seems like a gentle, level headed young man who deserves to be moving on. These are of course only my opinions and I welcome fedback from either side of the fence. James - good luck Producers - open your eyes and your wallets!
arrrrrrrrr poor loti i dnt want him to leave either even though i have never seen him do it i wanna go c it again i am going in jan do u think george gonna be in it then?
I don't think returning to "Billy Elliot" will harm James' further career at all!! He's a brilliant actor and I'm sure he'll get many oportunities to proof his talent in the future. So why not let him enjoy being in the show for another few weeks? I know he loves the show and I think he's doing very well.
I've never heard of this company before, so I can't attest to their reliability. On the other hand, as a smaller company with fewer orders, they might be able to send copies faster than HMV or Amazon. Although it still says November 21, I think the other sites that say November 28 or December 5 are more accurate.
At PowerPlayDirect.com, you can save an extra 50p (bringing the price of the standard OCR to £8.49) through their "Refer-a-friend" program. If you e-mail me at accordcanada@gmail.com with your title (Mr./Miss, etc.), first name, last name and e-mail address, they will send you a welcome e-mail with a coupon code.
Do any of you know or have you heard if Billy Elliot will be on BBC TV next Friday 18th November for the "Children In Need" appeal? Usually they have a few musicals being performed on the night, and I guess knowing that this is a new musical with a connection with children on both parts, there maybe some songs which are performed?
I heard that Amy Nuttall from the My Fair Lady tour will be performing in that!.... kinda random :P But I REALLY hope all 4 will dance onstage together! And in a sense it is real gd George is not leaving, but I really want to see his last night though and if he's not leaving on the 3rd, I won't be able to catch his last perf. But gd for u George!!!!!!! *I m having a serious headache now... so soz if my post didn't make much sense*

Personally I agree with Be Inspired that it's easy to get too worked up about the age of the lead. It was definitely a different show when I saw it with 'James Mark Two' but no worse for that. And a bit more exposure can't do him anything but good I'd have thought (and s*d the GCSEs)! It will be interesting to see what happens after Christmas- it certainly looks like logistically 4 Billys are better than 3! The question is, can the Billy Academy churn out boys with the amazing talent and skills required for the role fast enough to provide enough cover? They don't grow on trees!
By the way, I seem to remember that James and one of the ballet girl troupes did the opening bit of the finale during the final of Strictly Come Dancing last season? Something like that would be great on Children in Need- and a good way to introduce Travis maybe?
does this mean that the 3rd of dec will not be georges last performance??? coz weve all brought tickets 4 dat reason..... n ot that i wnt goerge 2 leave coz i love him but the thought of misses his last performance on a nother day..... cry cry Updated On: 11/10/05 at 08:47 AM
I don't think it will cause james any harm.... Yeah, he looks 12/13 years old to me now, but his voice seems a lot deeper. I would like to know more about children in need. I saw the one with mary poppins. If anybody has any info about children in need, could you give me more info, please? I saw the schedule and did not see any "Billy Elliot"
So, when is the definite date george will leave? This discussion makes me confused!

The official site now says 5th december for the OCR. Looks like were going to be waiting a little bit longer for the CD! Oh well it will all be worth it in the end.
Hey, I have just a few questions. I've been reading these boards for a while and I'm a bit confused! First of all: Does anyone know the ACTUAL release date for the OCR? I've read it as different things everywhere! Secondly: So, James is staying until after Christmas (at weekends), George ISN'T leaving on the 3rd, and Liam is still there? So all 3 originals pluys Leon are still playing the part? And does this mean that, as I am going to the matinee on New Year's Eve, I have the chance of seeing one of the original 3? Cos that would be fantastic!
HEYY..sorry changing the subject slighty...but did any one manage to cahtch George on telly this lunch time...i didnt get to see it as i was at school but my mum was explaining it to me...he was on one of them auction programs and the people used there moeny from the acutions to go into london and watch a musical...and they made a great choice...they chose billy lol...and then they got to go backstage and meet everyone and george took them on a tour of the theatre...i didnt get to watch it but it sounded interesting...any one see it?
Bad news about children in need...the official evening's line up is listed on the site i've linked to, and doesn't feature Billy Elliot. However, we can look forward to the new SIMPLY MUSICALS program starting in Jan 06 on BBC which will feature BE!!! Can't wait!
there could be hope still! After reading the line up again, I saw this...
1am to 2.05am Welsh classical sensation Katherine Jenkins sings live in the studio, and the stars of London's West End drop in to perform exclusively for BBC Children in Need. And, as the grand total for the night is announced, the fab four - G4 - round off the 2005 fundraising spectacular.
this could be hopeful! although you'd think that if it was BE then it would be on earlier??
I wish I can see Simply Musicals, but I will be in japan. If any of you could record it and put it on internet, I would be grateful!
About Children in Needs, we're not sure if there's billy elliot. It just said that the stars will simply appear on TV, but not sure which one.

yes, but as i said...usually the "Musicals" part of the show happens much earlier, as it is more family viewing. especially if it was billy, you'd think it would be more appropriate earlier. i wonder why it's so late
