Dec 24th is Ryan's birthday and he is doing the matinee on that day so would assume that will be with Liam as well.... so birthday wishes to Ryan on Christmas Eve..... Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher should be a riot !
Yep, everyone's comments from last night are very accurate. Other stars who were there but not mentioned yet, were Nick Berry (Eastenders/Heartbeat for those that don't know) and SUPERSTAR, Chris De Burgh! All were as casual as ever by the Stage Door pub prior to the show, and happily signing autographs. I also think I saw David Furnish outside the front of the Theatre at the end but not too sure on that one.
I hope some people have got some great pictures of the night. I sadly was the 'one' person the Theatre management took issue to and confiscated my camera and film (camera was returned at the end) citing all of the 'copyright' issues about pictures being taken. When I pointed out that no mention was made about photos being taken, I was told that Stephen Daldry mentioned it in his opening remarks - em sorry, was I in a different Theatre for that ? as he did not. He jokingly said about making sure you used your mobiles and switched them off, nothing about pictures. And, by the number of 'flashes' going off at the end and, I'm sure the number of cameras in use without flash, it was a shame to be singled out and victimised by the Management. I realise they were doing their job but they obviously do not appreciate the depth of feeling that so many devoted members of the audience have for this show.
Anyway, I am sure there will be plenty of others around somewhere, basically for the appreciation of those that want to see what happened and were unable to get to the show!
Well done to Becky who I met yesterday too. She was the first in the queue outside the Theatre at 05.45, having arrived from Cambridge overnight by coach. She saw both the matinee and evening shows from the very front seat of row B, right where Billy jumps down off the stage! Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye in all the confusion outside the Stage Door at the end, knew it would be busy !
Shame they couldn't close the road off and divert the buses for an hour - nearly lost quite a few fans when the traffic came along. How come buses run about every 20 minutes until you are outside the stage door of the theatre ?, they seemed to be coming by every few minutes !
Was great to meet so may of the young stars' parents and relatives as well who were all glowing on cloud 9!, rightly so - well done to all.
George told me it was now 'back to normal' returning to school and, as I told him, I doubt life could be 'normal' ever again after this !
Well done again to all departing cast members. A real hard act to follow but I'm sure with the production standards of the show it will be as good as ever.
Great to meet all of the Billys and Michaels too, Leon and Joey who I still have to see on stage - just a matter of time, and money ! And thanks for all the posing for pictures and autographs that took a while last night, as always they were totally happy to do so.
Nice to get to meet with David (David3) too, with whom I have been corresponding for a few months about BETM.
Brian.I'm sure if you had waited to the end like others to start taking your pictures the theatre management would have reacted accordingly and allowed you to continue. By taking pictures during the actual action they obviously quite rightly thought you were taking the "michael" and also reacted accordingly.
Sorry if it wasn't clear, but it WAS at the end of the show, no I wasn't taking them during the show itself. I was only doing so at the same time that everyone else did at the end but because I was easily accesible, on the side of the Dress Circle, they could reach me and so took exception.
Obviously people in the middle of rows that couldn't be reached they basically couldn't do anything about although I did see a lady approached by a member of staff near the front of the Dress Circle but she appeared to just wave him away and carried on.
Oh well, as I said, I'm sure some others managed to capture the 'final' part of the show for the benefit of those that couldn't be there, not to capitalise on selling pictures for financial gain infringing copyright!
Liam makes a mistake near the start of track 6 of the OCR:
'What's this?' 'It's a letter.' 'I can see it's a letter.' 'You can open it if you want.' 'Thank God for that, the suspense was killing me.' 'It's from me mum.' 'Your mum?' 'SHE WROTE IT FOR US WHEN I WAS EIGHTEEN'
There is no other way to understand this except for that Billy is older than 18. They should have checked to make sure that there were no errors. Updated On: 12/4/05 at 10:12 AM
Well i suppose it's the end of an era but what a fantastic finish the original cast gave us. Leaving "Billyday" aside briefly, the weekend started for me with a Friday evening visit to Billy and was delighted to find George was performing along with Brad. Gillian stood in for Haydn so i finally got to see her and she certainly didn't disappoint with a real earthy performance and her singing was particualy splendid, she reminded me of Julie Walters in the way she portrayed Mrs Wilkinson. The rest of the cast were as usual and all were on top form. George and Brad particualy hammed it up even more than usual in "Expressing Yourself" and Brad did an "Ashley" on George with the lipstick!! The show was superb and at the end of yet another standing ovation Tim gave a small speech on World Aids Day how so many children are affected by this disease through no fault of their own. Members of the ensemble were collecting with buckets on the way out. So onto "Billyday" and after being woken by a phone call from an excited fellow board member i quickly realised today was going to be special!! After a quick trip into central London to meet some board members and pick up copies of the OCR ( ) we made our way to the Stage Door pub to sign George's card and see who else was there. Onto the show, we were rewarded with James along with Brad and what an amazing performance we got from James. He again demostrated just what a fine actor he is and the tearful scence for "The Letter" left everyone in the audience visabilly moved. Also loved his new line to Debbies "fanny remark" got a hugh laugh and a definate winner!! Gillian again stood in for Haydn and considering it was cast change day the show passed with no practical jokes, although James did on a number of occasions give hand signs to members of the cast! Issac also got on his knees and bowed to James at the end of Swan Lake which i haven't seen done before. Tim came on at the end and this time the charity was an actors charity. So back to the Stage Door pub and then finally the big one!! Stephen Daldry came onto the stage beforehand to make a speech saying just what an emotional night it promised to be and how everyone was going to be sadly missed especially George who had been working with the show for two and a half years now. It was a full cast for the performance with Brad turning out for his third succesive show to support George. The show itself words can not be found to describe but surfice to say it was absolutly amazing. George received a standing ovation at the end of "Electricity" and seemed genuinly moved by the whole occasion A special mention to Lucy who was also performing for the last time and despite seeming very emotional at times gave her usual throughally proffesional performance. Sadly too soon the end came and Tim invited George's parents onto the stage followed by the fantastic sight of the other 3 Billy's coming on stage to perform with their friend George one last time. James in particular seemed really upset to be seeing George finish. Afterward all the cast were happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures at the stage door and after what was an incredible and emotional night went off to a throughully deserved celebration party thrown by Tim. Finally many thanks to all those who have now left, you were all amazing and in particular to George who i'm sure has a big future ahead of him So the end of an era. well yes but hey from tomorrow it's the start of a whole new era. CAN'T WAIT!!! Steve

Be a BE*liever! Feel the Electricity
Sorry didn't get to meet you yesterday, we were probably all milling around the same place without actually saying hello to each other - as I suggested, maybe we should have made some type of name badges !
The line from the show (and film if I remember rightly), is that 'she wrote it for us when I was 18, but I couldn't wait'.
To be gramatically correct it should say 'she wrote it for us FOR when I was 18' but they don't say the 2nd "for" so you therefore understand that it was written for him to open when he reached 18 but, as he says, he couldn't wait.
Glad you've got your copy... hope to get one at the start of the week.
OMG! Last night was excellent. It was so weird seeing all the other Billy's walking around the theatre! We were sitting a few rows behind Leon and when George came off the stage and hugged Stephen Daldry they were right next to me. I also saw James wandering around at the interval on his mobile phone - he looked like a right star! George was brilliant last night and its a shame to see him leave.
All of the songs that have 'Billy' singing in them on the OCR -are sung by Liam Mower as clearly stated on the cd insert - however, it does not say who sings or rather shouts in the Angry Dance - but it is George Maguire. No James I am sorry to say.
How good was the show! I loved the added extras they put in for a laugh, such as one of the dresses runing into the wall and falling over, and a great return for the snow! It was the best performance i had ever seen, and even though the cast had had a party just before the evening performance, they all had enough energy to keep going. I especially liked the posh english kids reply to george "Just you f*****g wait!" you could see george was in histerics. It was nice that Haaydn turned up aswell as she was ill so opted out of the afternoon performance. I spoke to most of the cast before the show, and they were all quite sad, but really exited. I have pictures which will come soon.
For those of you who have PM'd me today I shall write back very soon. I've got a lot of catching up to do with all these posts that everyone has written about yesterday. I've been spending my afternoon uploading new photo's to the Gallery Page of the fansite from Billy Day... especially for those of you who weren't able to make it to the show!
What a day it was!
It was really nice chatting to a lot of fellow board members, before and after the shows.
I will add my review soon but here's the details with regards to last nights photos...
If you are already a registered member then you will have no problems viewing "George's Last Night" album.
They were great photos and sounds like it was a great event.
Can someone who has the OCR answer this: are the clips on billyelliotmusic.com different from the actual songs on the OCR? For example, The Letter Reprise sounds like it's not Liam, but is it actually him, or did they use a different clip for this website then the one they actually used on the OCR? Maybe this will clear up some confusion.
lm wot earth u on bout liam makes mistake on cd it aint even out yet plus thats the line from show anyway fool, stik 2 pretendin b liam u sad mumpet thoght liam was excellent at end last nite an wot a gr8 nite, bye george how long james left now?
BE a BE*liever feel the electricity in Liams dance------------------------WELCOME BAK LIAM THE SHOW NEEDS U
They do sound slightly different on the website, I am not sure why. But it is not really important as the OCR is out - and - apart from the Angry Dance, is excellent - the best tracks in my opinion are: Track 1 - The Stars Look Down, Track 13 'Once We Were Kings and Track 14 - The Letter - Reprise.
MUSICALS FAN - the OCR is out - I got mine in the post yesterday morning - click on the pic fo my profile i scanned the cd in its case, in addition, I have not and do not pretend to be Liam. Updated On: 12/4/05 at 05:49 PM
I believe that some time mid-2006 or late 2006, Billy Eliot The Musical will stop playing at Victoria Palace Theatre which has been 'bought' for a different show - and the musical will 'transfer' to Broadway.
I somehow doubt that Billy Elliot will finish on the West End in 2006. It's still sold out every night and they aren't going to lose that Cash cow. That doesn't mean of course that it can't and won't move theatres.
All great things must come to pass. We know the first will soon be last and in the ground we may be lain , but a seed is sown to rise again.
I have just seen the TV commercial for the OCR in the commercial break for "This Morning". It features Liam singing Electricity in his blue shirt and he's looking really sweet. He does a big jump at the end - almost like the poster image of George.
If anyone manages to record it, can they post it online. I'd also like to see the Joey feature from Blue Peter, as I forgot all about it!
