Okay, then...
Kinky Boots knows how to stunt cast.
Huh. That’s... odd casting.

I love Ghee as Lola, but it would have been nice to see the original cast members close the show. I’m glad it lives on for everyone involved, but I hope they get to close it when that day does come.
Oh god, I really love Scissor Sisters. But is it worth sitting through Kinky Boots again?
I'm mildly surprised that Shears isn't using his real name (didn't he with Tales of the City, as writer?).
Jake Shears does have a terrific voice but this is odd casting.
I’m sure the idea was to close out the show with Billy and Stark, but I bet Brendon Urie made them enough money to run for much longer. Good for Kinky! Also, I’m excited to see a woman of color play Lauren.

Very odd that he’s doing this. He is about to release new music isn’t he?
Plus he’s just wrong for the role...not that seems to matter much these days I guess.
Well that will be one very camp Charlie--no doubt about his sexuality now.

Possible understatement. This is the only video I've seen with Jake Shears. I'm sure he's a talented person, but him as Charlie Price?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGCD4xb-Tr8
Hm, I'm just spit balling here, but maybe, just maybe, Shears will act to reflect the given circumstances of the character.

They're only there for 3 months, so it's not a long run for either of them. This has been in the works for a while, but I wonder if they're looking to bring in another name for the summer or just close the show in April?
Oh Kad, I love you.
I saw Shears in "Bent" in LA a couple of years back - truly phenomenal!
I agree with Cinders. Shears was stunning in Bent.
I was going to say the same about Shears and Bent.
If you saw him in that, I don't think you'd find this odd casting at all. It's called "acting".
Jake has said in interviews before he's quite a stiff actor, offering that as the reason he didn't intend on going into acting.
Very likely he has studied and perhaps improved. I mention the comment only to not it may not be that strange of casting, actually, If he's a bit stiff, that would work well with the part.
I guess I'll eat my hat, because I really thought they were going to close the show with Stark and Billy. Personally, I still think they should've done it that way. But it'll be great for Jake to make his Broadway debut. It'll be good choice - all the Scissor Sisters fans, who were young when they first came out but now middle-aged with discretionary income, to spend the night out with a rock star they loved back then.
Hmm I saw Stark Sands and Billy Porter in this recently and they were phenomenal. Hard to imagine anyone else besides Billy Porter being Lola.

I have seen Kinky Boots four times now, twice with Porter and once with Ghee (can't remember who it was the fourth time) and I have to say - Ghee is by far the best Lola I have seen. He has a phenomenal voice, and is also a very glamorous drag queen offstage so the role feels more natural for him than anyone else.
I had a major crush on Jake Shears, he was one of my absolute favorite gay idols growing up so I'd definitely try to catch the show with him if time/circumstances permit.
How old IS Jake Shears ?[yes I could look it up but..] There's mention here of 'growing up with' ,audience now 'middle age'.
I though Scissor Sisters were somehow new[ish]--Kylie loves Jake--but obviously they have been around for yonks[and Jake has a great surgeon].
Kee-ryst people! Jake Shears is 4 days younger than Stark Sands.
Is it too much trouble to save all the bitchery until after he debuts?
