Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/26/24

I'd be surprised if & Juliet closed before attempting any kind of stunt casting, but maybe the team and Eva purposefully don't want to go that route. After seeing Joey Fatone visit recently, seems like they could put ex boy and girl group stars in some of these roles (Mel B as Nurse, Lance Bass as Lance, yada yada). I'd respect them if they went out on a high note and chose to not do that, though.

You're right though. I think maybe they could attempt to stunt cast in at least one role before saying "we're not where we should be, let's go out on a high note and close up shop"

They are absolutely stunt casting when the time is right, and if the show makes it into 2025, Price will supposedly pull the trigger and close up with Timberlake and Clarkson as the Shakespeares for a brief stint.

Imagine if we could tell everyone here that Liberty Mutual customizes car insurance to save people hundreds. (LiMu squawks)

You're kidding. No way. Tell me you're joking. Do you think that will actually happen??

There is no way to confirm a potential stunt casting of major stars so far in advance. Stars do not just wait on hold and put a block on their characters for months at a time just because a show MIGHT be stunt casting a year from now.

Timberlake and Clarkson would obviously be huge gets, but would they actually do it? Clarkson loves the show, but she hosts a daytime talk show now. So she would only be available for a few short months during the summer. Would she really want to spend her break with a grueling 8-show a week schedule? Which she would have to rehearse while still finishing up the talk show season if they want to maximize her run (which would probably max out at 3 months tops). I can absolutely see stunt casting in their future. But probably not with these two.

With all of that in mind, I submit the following to casting: Anne Hathaway. (joking. But how meta would that be)

Unless something major has changed with her personally, Clarkson won't do it. She's said numerous times that she does not enjoy acting at all.

Wow, Home had by far the lowest Avg Ticket price at $27. That means most of the theater was papered! Will they still run this at a huge loss? Why do they continue to put on shows that target such a small niche audience? Truly awful boring show and I can't understand why this was put on a stage. I am telling everyone I know it's by far the worst show of the year.

People who are suggesting any kind of acting roles for Kelly Clarkson clearly never saw From Justin to Kelly.

EDIT: And yes, I know that Justin Guarini has gone on to be a Broadway veteran, but the point still piggybacks on the one from a couple posts ago, that Kelly does not enjoy acting. And I don't think it's a stretch to surmise that that movie is likely a reason why.

I don't think it's awful, I just think the pacing is soooooooooooooooooo slow. Add to that the warm theater, and you're asking people to doze off.

I hope not. I just booked another trip for January. Would they really extend through to April if they were worried about their figures?

I'm just afraid that the grosses will start up that rightwing "go woke go broke" crap. Even if "Hell's Kitchen" and "The Wiz" are shooting that theory to hell.

At the very least, if & Juliet ever gets a pro-shot or made into a movie, Anne Hathaway needs to make a cameo to visualize the "not that one" joke.

When will people get it through their noggins that we do not need to turn every musical into a movie?? I'm aware you didn't say that. But just the suggestion- nope. Stop.

I assure you we all understand that not every musical needs to be a movie. But I'm pretty sure we'll also continue to feel free to bring up the possibility when it's relevant to the conversation (as in the case Jonathan's completely benign and logical reaction to your earlier suggestion).

Really? you can't just comment "great idea" and leave it at that? You must tack on "if it's made into a movie musical" at the end? It has to be there?

The other week when I was at “& Juliet”, I thought what a fun movie it could be with all kinds of Pop icons making cameos.

Forgive me for having a strong opinion. What an idiot am I, right? Please. You also spend time on these boards. Don't you have anything better to do?

Extending the ticket sales means almost nothing. I'd be very surprised if BTTF is still there past Jan 2025

Yep we're both idiots who waste time on here- definitely on the same page. No one on here ever admits when they're wrong, do they? Physically incapable. How sad.

You spend so much of your time here being irritated with people for not discussing things the way you think they should and then getting bent of shape when people push back. Maybe start popping an edible before you open this site?

Maybe you could stop criticizing what others say here. Esp since no one said it SHOULD be a film, just a comment on IF it ever happened

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
